yer but you will probably have to wait 6months for the cash back from crap quidco.
I waited less than 3 months for £150 cash back, you call that crap?

It's great that broadband in the UK can reach these speeds, but at the end of the day shouldn't VM be trying a bit harder to reach out to rural areas, rather than giving the large cities a boost from 50MBit to 100MBit?
They seem to just be taking the most profitable areas and offering them stupid speeds, where most villages are still struggling with 2MBit or less.
Just my $0.02 really.
Common sense business model?
Why would they want to reach out to areas where they would be operating at a loss?
Would need third party funding to expand their network... which isn't going to happen in a hurry!
The problem is, they dont want to spend money... for years Virgin Media had this fibre network while BT sat on its backside sticking with copper lines.. and even now with infinity they are struggling to provide the speeds they quote.. they tried to sell me 40mbit, but told me id only get 20? why? its supposed to be a fibre network like VM. It was only when VM rolled out their 50mbit service a few years back while BT were still offering 20mbit over ADSL 2+ they thought to themselves... wait a minute, we need to do something fast... but even now they are a step behind, VM have released 100mbit, BT have responded with 80mbit in 2012, but VM are planning 200+ mbit for 2012.

Agree with Tute. There is a hugeeee fibre network running across the whole of North Wales for businesses etc, just ready and waiting to be spread out to homes. I emailed Virgin a while back asking them if they were going to take advantage of it and they said no... few months later and BT announce they're starting to sort of the exchanges to roll out their fibre optic service.
Virgin's loss I suppose.
That is not the fault of Virgin Media though.
If anybody is to blame it is BT.

above results are exactly why i wouldnt use BT
they sell you 20mbit and your lucky to get half in most cases.
At least with VM, you pay for a speed and get almost that speed.
cant really complain about 97mbit out of 100mbit, when i was on 50mbit before I used to get 48mbit
BT Infinity... they tried to sell me 40mbit fibre broadband, which is supposed to be a competing product to VM, but told me i could only recieve 20mbit
Well how is it fair
I just want a decent uplaod speed please.. I'm sticking with my ADSL 2+ (15 Down/1 Up) until i can get 20mb+ upload from someone (at a reasonable cost).
20mb upload?!Don't hold your breath matey.
It will cost you a small fortune.
Annex-M is the nearest thing a consumer can get, but you'd need mahoosive download speeds to sacrifice for better upload speed.
Incidentally, today i've been getting quotes from VM about our business options.
20mb on a 100Mb bearer - £10,500 pa
This is synchronous and uncontended though.
