She's has been very vocal about Hamas in the past. Boycott's and bans for her WW films in certain countries.

She embraces her Jewish/Israeli identities.

Was receiving tons of vile abuse over the Cleopatra casting lot's of it was anti-Semitic . Plenty of media outlets running whitewashing articles.

Also a little bit of hate over the Imagine video ^^

At the beginning of lockdowns she had a "well-meaning" idea to try and spread a little joy, only to colossally screw it up by picking the worst possible song imaginable for someone as "privileged" as she and her co-stars are - singing about imagining no riches, possessions etc whilst living in "million pound mansions" etc - I've no idea how true that Mansion bit is about Gal but it's definitely true of lots of her co-stars in the video.

After the epic backfire she went quiet for a bit on SM and it's seemed to have blown-over for the majority of the public, probably because she genuinely seems like a nice person who made an honest mistake, rather than someone cynical doing it for their own PR (opinions vary :D).
 
Yeap I agree, it shouldn't be a shock to anyone that a directors niche re-edit of a derided film, made only for a small group of vocal fans and then only released on a streaming service (so far), didn't do "better" than the cinema releases of a long-awaited Wonder Woman sequel or a $200m Lizard vs Monkey CGI blockbuster :D
