*** Justice League Thread ***

I think Snyder has really nailed the look of hyper-powered beings who have to navigate Earth like it's made out of cardboard, especially when interacting with standard humans. I like the aesthetic a bit more than the vanilla Marvel stuff (excluding GotG and it's colour palette). The scripts, dialogue and all that aren't on the same level quite yet though, which is obvious as the set-up isn't anything like Marvel with their writing team, long-term planning etc. You'd need a whole DC Studio type thing.

Yeah, the Snyder cut is an anomaly. JL wouldn't have been a 4 hour long film if he had remained the director so its a little unfair to compare JW coming in and trying to salvage something he didn't really create vs ZS being given free reign to make a 4 hour long version of something he had a lot of input in from the start.

There was still plenty of pointless scenes in the Snyder cut and I reckon they could have knocked it down to 3 hours without too much loss (and perhaps it would have been a tighter film).

One thing that I didn't like which someone mentioned above, Cyborg. Came off as a massive ****. I know he was supposed to be hurting from the loss of his mum and he blamed his dad (for some reason) but he just came across as a ***** rather than someone in a lot of pain and with a lot of anger. Not sure if I was in the minority with this view.
We may have still got this version of JL as I remember when it originally got announced it was 2 parts but WB eventually cut it to just a single movie.

I never watched the original version and judging by this one, I’m glad I didn’t. I’m half way through and watching the rest later, but my god, it’s ****, the original must have been actually distressing to watch.
Where’s the characters you’re supposed to care about? Where’s the story? Where’s the interesting villain?

It’s a slow mo piece of arse so far and so much has been filmed against green screen, it’s really poor.

I think the only positives are that I like Ezra as The Flash and some of the effects he’s involved in.

I feel sorry for Ben Affleck getting to be Batman in two modern day equivalents of ‘serious’ versions of Batman and Robin. I genuinely think he’s a good Batman largely due to the mass, suit and brutality he seems to exude in some scenes, but less of a good Bruce Wayne, where I think Bale is better.

More moaning to come later I expect... :)
Finished the rest of it and my initial opinion stands. It’s not an enjoyable film barring the Superman scenes in the second half in addition to the other positives I mentioned.

Guess the film’s just not for me!

7/10 for me. Much better than the previous one in all aspects except runtime.

Characters were better fleshed out this time round and actually had a purpose by the end. Cyborg with hacking, Batman with gadgets, Aquaman and WW with the usual brawling till Supes arrives then its game over, and Flash with probably the most important role. Miles better than the ending of the previous one which was embarrassingly trying to be funny.

Also with the nightmare scenes and other characters involved, there's interesting material to build upon for future expansions. DC, more of this please, less (actually none) of WW84 :p.

That isnt full Darseid in the movie, Darkseid resides as the same overal person in multiverses, so he kinda slits himself off ino those parts, we never seen the full together version of Darkseid, they are more like Mini Thanos types. The plan was to build up to that more and more thinking they had faced full force version of him before, but not till Grenn Lanterns etc got involved.

Darkseid didnt come back as they where well protected, with Superman dying its only then the Mother boxes call out to come back. Doomsday was beaten by jsut Sups and WW, Batman doing what he could, it took the gathering of the rest of the team to beat Steph.

Sorry but the justice league gang barely beat Steph!!!!

Flash HAD to go back in time to make it work!

THEY DID LOSE!

One thing is bothering me...

Just prior to the mother boxes synchronising a portal opens up revealing Darkseid. Then the unity is complete and the whole area goes up like Hiroshima (killing the heroes etc).

So why doesn’t the blast go through the portal and also wipe out Darkseid etc?
Also, why doesn’t he just fly through slap the heroes about and yoink the boxes / the anti-life equation. He seems content to stare intently and leave

Man I hope WB let synder do at least one more or even just get him a budget on HBO Max to get a tent pole release up on that.

This version finally made me feel like we were getting somewhere with a DC universe ... I can not be bothered with another reset.

Because the flash goes back in time a few moments prior to the boxes uniting and prevents the explosion so it happens but because of him going back in time it doesn't. It might well have taken out everyone including those watching on in the portals, through probably not Superman and Darkseid.

Presumably his army and ships etc weren't yet assembled (he had parademons behind him but no ships), not sure if there's some sort of time duration on how long a boom tube stays open for either. Plus it sets up the sequel, which will likely not happen :(

The blast definitely killed superman, because when the flash goes back in time you can clearly see superman being re-assembled... his skeleton hand is the last thing to come “back”.

Makes me believe that had the flash not gone back everyone (including Darkseid) should have died
.

loved it, best DC movie for a long time! not a huge DC comic reader so was a bit confused by all the characters in the multi-endings but enjoyed it. Martian Manhunter seemed to be pretty pleased revealing himself, I just thought, "yeah, who's that then" but i guess he's a big cheese in the DC universe. Same with Deadpool wannabe teamed up with worst lex ever.

Only criticism i have is what about the rest of the people living on earth? The whole movie seemed to be played out on a barren planet other than a small community of drunks that sea man visited once in a while. They had trouble finding steppenwolfe's base? He covered an entire town in a glowing red force field. Wouldn't that be on the news somewhere?

Anyway, good effort. I hope they keep Cavil on for a while.

It did take out Superman, if you notice when time is being reversed superman was being reconstructed. So it took him out as well

I am pretty sure Darkseid was safe, it seemed their standard approach to invasion.

I thought it was better than the Whedon cut, which wasn't memorable as I don't really remember much from that version apart from it being rubbish

There's still much stupid though in this new cut

How do they forget that Earth is the home of the anti life equation ?

At 4 hours long surely they could have just added some more story to explain how Steppen betrayed DS and how they all forgot about Earth ?

The ending was okay I guess to lead into the potential other 2 films in the trilogy but JL Joker is a really really poor Joker, like Deathstroke asks.... was he really needed ? :D

It could be better, still think the DC animated films are better quality
