Kaby Lake, Zen and ARM Chips to only support Win10

You are right, people shouldnt just accept it but people have. Many rushing out to buy the latest iDevice or Android smart phone and think the same isnt going on the background?!?!!?

People get upset about Windows 10 and its data collecting because they have been informed about it. When mobile phones and App's have been doing it silently for years and you have no control over it unless you go back to a Nokia 3210.

And less not get started on Cloud storage services and their data collecting:eek:

I see this counter argument used a lot - but people who care that much about privacy on their desktop OS also tend to be particular about privacy on their phone as well and/or don't have the same usage requirements from their phone so aren't as bothered about privacy aspects.

To quote someone else in this context - just because Hitler was worse than Harold Shipman...

EDIT: My comment wasn't just on privacy but the direction that MS is taking in that the user has much less say over their OS and many things function to MS's convenience not to the end user's convenience which is completely wrong and at odds to what an OS should be about.

The only way to escape being rounded up in the (near?) future when the feminists take power is to eschew facebook/twitter/win10. Although I'm sure micro-drones will be used to track anyone who doesn't take their mark of the beast.

Seriously though I'm worried about where this will all end up and look forward to being one of the smug unscannables.

Technical reason why.

Yup as it says there is a big difference between support and compatibility.

The first article was just click bate, as if Intel and AMD would allow their CPU's to only work on Windows 10, oh well who are Apple going to spend their millions on for the CPU's for all the new Macbooks and Mac desktop machines.
Obviously Intel and AMD are not interested in any of the 47.25% of people worldwide who still use Windows 7 and others, or maybe I should say Intel and AMD want to limit themselves to the 22.99% that already use Windows 10.

As for privacy, I assume all you worry mongers are using Duckduckgo ;)

Well if in the future I upgrade and Windows 11 is blocked by certain " media " sites as well, then i'll be forced to keep two pc's on the go, This current skylake build for media downloads and the future build for everything else.

Unfortunately for a lot of people stuff like Linux simply isn't a viable alternative so its a bit silly to say oh well you could run Linux instead - people aren't really free to install something else with the dominance Windows has had (and it goes beyond 3rd party software availability).

Rubbish. Take some time to educate yourself and at the very least see what other fancy techno words are out there. There's enough of us savvy geeks out there for pretty much everybody on the planet to know one.

Would you buy the first car that you came across without research? A kitchen appliance? Would you change your utilities to another provider just because it's the easiest or it's everywhere?

So why should a computer be any different? Everybody can't be great at everything, but being ignorant of the computer you buy is ridiculous. Read and learn.
