Did anyone else spot the error by Stephen Merchant when he phoned Karl and told him that he was going to a village to meet the "ancestors of the people who built it (chichen itza)"

I think he meant the descendants, not ancestors :)
 
I loved it when Karl was going on about how there are no eggs around during Easter in Mexico and how that that's all Easter is about in the UK. He says something like 'If there were no eggs for Easter it would just be Friday'. I was crying :D
 
Well that was quite a nice example of travel broadening the mind.

It's really nice to see him changing, he's giving back to these families who have welcomed him into his home. He's actually appreciating the way others live and actually seems to be enjoying himself too.

Excellent episode!

FAVOURITE LINE: That's gotta be a fluke init that... there's no way they said to the builder... erm can you make this pyramid thing that lets skulls roll down the sides and as a bonus feature can you make that bottom bit reflect me clappin me hands.
 
I enjoyed ep.4 much more than 2-3, the best bit was the cowboy guys blatantly taking the pee out of him with the cattle prod :D
The bit with swallowing the worm in the tequila was still annoying though, he made such a song and dancing about it, I really dislike the fact sometimes he's so rude I worry what the people he meets think about Englishmen in general.
 
I'll hold my hands up, I've given it a chance due to the fact that Gervais isn't really in it, and I've quite enjoyed it.

As someone said they could lose Gervais/Merchant completely.

Couldnt agree more.....gervais' laugh is the only thing thats annoying me at the minute.
 
I still record them and watch them as theres not much else on tv and theres some funny bits here and there, but i just find it so contrived.

I mean having the guy keep going round asking for mexican jumping beans....it wasnt funny in the slightest and made even moreso knowing its an act.
 
I agree that Gervais has just become an annoying idiot in recent years, its clear he's the one who's putting on the biggest act tbh!

Really enjoying this so far, Merchants phone calls haven't annoyed me that much, kind of gives a bit of an outline on what Karls going to do and stuff :)

Yeah sorry Dmpoole I didn't read all the thread which I should have. My apologies. :(

For me the tv shows have been ok not as funny as I thought they would be the actual outtakes on youtube etc are more interesting/funnier than the shows. Love the one with the guy eating noodles... hehe
