I have two flatmates, both from up north and they are always telling me how doner kebabs in london stink, taste like crap and are generally dog meat. They claim that the kebabs they get up north(leeds) are sooo much nicer and tastier, cleaner etc.

Is this generally true? I have yet to find a decent kebab place in london which is actually nice, any good recommendations?

I love spicy kebabs :)

Bosphorous in South Kensington, Golden Grill on Camberwell Green are my choice for kebabs in London. There's also a place near to Camden station that does kebabs but in a tortilla (wrap) which are alright too. :)

Proper kebabs are awesome. There are brilliant kebab houses round here.

True. At the end of the day a proper kebab is just some nicely spiced/flavoured meat cooked nicely served with a bit of sauce in a pitta. You can't really go wrong.

I will never eat a kebab again after one gave me a really bad stomach the next day.

I used to eat them all the time aswell.

Thats what put me off as well. I remember having quite severe food poisioning after eating a dirty one. Probably my fault though.

The only place I go for kebabs are proper Turkish Mezez restaurants. None of that rotating dog meat crap that you see in every Chicken and Chips shop.

Also, northern Fish and Chips are better than South.

basicly mate :) go to Berlin in Deutschland, by a Kebab there from a PROPER Turkish guy, and you think all english kebab tast like dog meat.

They are made in Naan Bread, with salad and sause :| english kebabs are just pure vile.

You must have loads of those little dog meat kebab places in east london :D

You live in London so you know how it is. They'll be a Dixie, which is next door to a Kebabish, which is next door to a Perfect Fried Chicken which is next door to a Perfect pizza.

All offering "meat" rotating around a heater :-/
