Kerbal Space Program

Didnt really play 0.25 too much. Had a flirt with 0.90 and looks much more refined, looks better and better effects.

Only issue im having is having to launch silly rockets in order to progress up the ladder, gets a bit old every time you play it, but at the same time its good to have a goal rather than the nothingness of sandbox. I think i need to experiment with other modes.

Is anyone else having problems with rescue missions in career mode? I was within the 2.2km range that I needed to be in order to take control of the stranded kerbal, but it wouldn't let me. I didn't have the necessary upgrades for EVA kerbals, but you would have thought that the stranded kerbals would be just fine

Great to see there's a new release but I've just started playing through 0.25 in career mode with remote tech etc and really can't be arsed doing Mun and Minmus missions just to get back up the science ladder. Might stick with 0.25 for a while then make the switch later when I get bored of my current career one.

0.9 career mode is really worth playing now! It's on the right track but some building costs could do with a bit of tweaking since as it stands its pretty expensive to get some basic functionality.

I totally agree but its making me explore more of Kerbin (which would be much easier if i had space plane tech available, Rockets are okay for now though).

I just wanted to say one thing about 'some' peoples reaction to this update. I've read a lot on Steam and the KSP forum and some people are 'disappointed' that this update doesn't add new planets or types of 'bases' to use.. This angers me a little, as firstly they need a working and polished games, which 0.90 is very close too, then you can expand on it.. There is no (zero) point of making a massive game world (if you can call it a world) even bigger but unrefined, thats how games fail..

Loving 0.90 though..

Thank you. :)

It shouldn't break saved games. I would wait until all your mods have confirmed they work. Take a backup of the game directory and then update. Hopefully it'll be fine, remembering to update mods as well if they've been updated, if it doesn't revert back to your backup.

this is the worse thing about ksp release is waiting for the mods to update.
so far got these installed

still waiting for procedural fairings, interstellar, kerbal alarm clock, TAC life support, remote tech and probably a few others

Just tried 0.9 and I don't know if I'm being dumb, but I can't create maneuver nodes or other target things other than planets.

Is this something I have to unlock? Rescuing a Kerbal from orbit is going to be hard without those.

Also the 18tn restriction on the initial launchpad is killing me. It's forcing me to save up for facility upgrades when I could be spending my cash on shiny rocket parts.

Upgrade your observatory. To unlock those features.
This was the wish of the community, and balanced tested during experimental testing.
Near the end game point, contracts throw money at you, so upgrading to Tier3 facilities are a breaze. :)

Fun isn't it. ;)
Be glad you don't have the 8 Ton limit to orbit or Mun;
During testing that had us veterans scratching our heads (some even managed it.)

Ultimately it might be best to select Normal, rather than Hard. Because its very difficult.
Happy launches..

I ran into that issue too, then realised (as said) inot pts an unlockable.

I think this is a good idea, as it vaguely 'limits' your process without fully limiting it. For example you can complete the contact to orbit kerbin or place a satelite in orbit you just have to do it manually (though presion orbits would be pretty tough, for me).

This layout has made me do kerbin related missions instead, which I'm having a blast with. I think they've got the challenge nearly spot on. Having the base upgrades linked to actions like the manuover node and space EVAs is clever too, as it makes me plan what to upgrade and research next.

Im liking how 0.90 is panning out so far...

I'm in the middle of a rescue mission but, due to me being a complete idiot, there is a radial parachute completely blocking the hatch of the empty capsule. With Kerbal Crew Manifest not working for 0.90, is there any other way of rescuing the kerbal with my current ship? I wouldn't be averse to some save file editing or something just to move Jeb to the other seat because the game has messed me about enough already with various bugs

*edit*
after some more googling I couldn't find any sensible way to do it, so just landed the craft and started again. Couldn't even revert the damned flight because I had swapped vessels (to the stranded kerbal).

I also found that the bug where you get stuck on the launchpad is quite a common one, and seems to only happen on the level 2 launchpad. If you want to upgrade your way past level 2, the upgrade from level 2 to 3 will be 322,000 on normal difficulty. To work around this you can use the support that holds the rocket in the air, or put a stack decoupler at the bottom of the rocket and release it at launch

Cheers Seanoog.

I guess I'll upgrade when I next play, but unfortunately a poor kerbal is going to be stuck in orbit until after christmas as I won't have time to rescue him/her beforehand.

Missis is about to pick me up a new laptop haven't played ksp since February when the last one packed up any decent mods for ksp that i should install when I get it up and running been out of the loop on this game for a while

Cheers

Enjoying the beta build a lot at the moment. Much more stable than the previous version. The career mode is a bit more complicated but my major gripe with it is the bloody cost of the building upgrades. Science is pretty easy to tally up but cash is very hard to get and the pricing seems well off.

As for mods these are the ones I'm using at the moment:

1. Kerbal Engineer Redux
2. Kerbal Alarm clock
3. TAC life support
4. B9 Aerospace
5. KW Rocketry
6. Remote Tech
7. Active Texture Management

That is rough.. I'd be mental without my daily fix of KSP.
Remember KSP can be a resource hog, if the craft has enough parts, so be sure to ask "nicely" for a laptop with a powerful CPU + GPU with 8GB of RAM; for lots of modifications installed. ;)

As for my build. Well it's stock, only because the mods I wish to install haven't been updated too 0.90 yet. :(
- EVE Interstellar
- Cool + Hot Rockets

PS: For the next 48 Hours. Kerbal Space Program is in the Steam sale for £13.79 (40% Off.) So if there is any lurkers, considering getting the game, now is the time...
