Kerbal Space Program

My game is either bugged or this is plain retarded...

All the parts have got joint symbols when I try to organise stages, and then the stages are all buggered up because of it. This is un-playable :(

Just managed to dock my first ships together just 2 very basic ones for now hopefully next I will get a docking hub up and some fuel pods.

Can you expand on that?
Pictures or another explanation, because I am confused!
Are you sure it isn't the new "Action Groups" your messing with? They are slightly awkward to learn, but then a very powerful tool once you know how to manipulate them..

I don't know too much myself...

Basically the symbols to the right when building your ship, for separating into stages are buggering up I think. I will click on an image of the booster, expecting it to highlight one of my ship's boosters, but instead highlights other parts of the ship  That probably made no sense either :o

Just got a space station core into orbit, the engines still have loads off fuel left! I wonder if it is possible to, keep adding parts to it then use those engines currently on it to push the space station to the mun, then have it orbit around that? or if i make it to big will the engines struggle? Its the vectoring 200thrust engines. I have 1 1/2 tanks left, the new long ones :)

Slightly updated my space station.

If the image is larger than 1280 pixels wide then please resize, link only or put in spoiler tags. Thank you.

Now Just trying to make a space plane that can reach it then return to kerbin :D

I did 4 successful docks, so i am doing a mega missions...

I am about to dock 2 parts onto my space station then bugger off back down to earth like a pro :P

No idea if this is going to work... i suspect a lot of pushing and shoving! I dont even know if the smaller engine will actually work or the RCS units....

Update: I blew up my main engine :( i tabbed out for a second and i forgot it was on full throttle, but the smaller engine works fine :) got into a 101km orbit with plenty off fuel....Now for the wait till i get close to docking :)

Anyone got any pictures of a successful space plane design that can hit about 150k orbit? I seem to be utterly failing at making mine.

Managed to get it downloaded before work, but now at work and could be here till 1pm tomorrow, but after that I'm off till Friday. Can't wait till build big ass space station.
And have you seen the GPS mod, I'm downloading that bad boy.

just got the first part of my space station into orbit, all went well and got a good circular orbit around Kerbin.

It then dawned on me I had fitted the 6 way docking thingy, but hadn't realised the clamp o trons weren't fitted, aaaaaaaarrrrrgghhh!

Still, wont do that again :p btw does anyone have any tips for rendevousing (sp?) with your station when its up???

Muhaha thats a good mistake to start with.
I am not sure if there is any differences with Clamtrons.
Mini, Unprotected, Covered Clamptrons, but I prefare the covered one, I can then open/close them as I wish.

As for advice:
When planning to dock, take the lights with you. They make docking at night much easier.

On launch pad, hold your launch until the Target is about 1/5th an orbit behind you, so your launching into its path.

Prefarably have your station in a circular orbit, or as close as possible.
AP: 75KM PE: 80KM. This means you Station has minimal variates, but also only Accerates or De-Accelerayes by a small margin.

Now your Rocket is in space, heading in the same direction an roughly same speed. Then Select the Station as your Target in Map view.
You'll notice the Prograde/Retro grade symbols now relate to to the Target Station an NOT your orbit of Planet/Moon.

Are you now infront or behind the station?
If your infront by a Massive margin (100+ km);
You need it to catch you (Fuel Economically) so by Lengthening your orbit than the Station will catch you.
(But dont just burn Retro-Grade, as you'll now burn away from the station.)
Slowly burn Pro-Grade, so your orbit chanes to AP: 75KM PE: 82KM.
This causes your Rocket to travel 10km more per orbit of Kerbin.
So increase Time warp an let it get to with 10KM.
Then eye ball the rest, using the Retro-Grade an Pro-Grade marking on the Nav Ball.

Finally make contact insanely slowly; Less than 0.1m/s.

Phew...

I launched a probe with all the science stuff to Duna, circulizing its orbit now. Solar panels work nicely!

Pictures man, pictures! :D

trying to get a very simple lander there now, but i keep messing it up.

1: time accelerated to get right launch window and forgot to extend solar panel = dead batteries.
2: Broke up on launch.
3: time accelerated between Kerbal and Duna, again forgetting to extend solar panel = dead batteries.
4: Missed Duna.
5: gave up lol.:p

lmao, remember you can easily set Tog-gable Solar Panels in the new Action Group system.

Also if your ships ASAS, Batteries, an other parts are dead, due too lack of power, you can send a rescue mission, an send a Kerbal on an EVA to manually extend the Solar panels, an not totally loose a ship...

Okay, so I just bought the latest version, 0.18. The last time I played around with KSP, it was the free demo and everything was simple because there were so few parts to use (at least in the unmodded version). It used to be so easy to get into orbit, but now none of my old tricks seem to work. So far, I've managed to put a single probe (stayputnik) into a heliocentric orbit, but nothing in an orbit around the Kerbal homeworld.

I love this game, but I haven't the faintest idea what to do, or how to do it. :p

Managed to get a ship in space ready to dock, but realised I had somehow managed to fit the clampotron on back to front :s
No docking no matter what I tried!
Took ages too :(
