Kerbal Space Program

So you haven't paid for it? :(

These are indy developers, these are the people who need support to keep the game updated. It's only about a £10 too!

yes and if i keep playing it then i will pay for it on the next update ....

my attention span is alarming .. the only game i regularly play is netstorm .. but what a game that is ...

Seems a bit cold-hearted not to pay for an indie game. I bought it quite a while ago so I got a good deal on it but it's worth every penny of the current price.

isn't it more like £20 now?
I bought it AGES ago now, was like £7?
tbh I'm all for the minecraft model really, I like getting onboard early and I've yet to be burnt by it.

this is hard .... as soon as my jet clears earth and enters orbit the ******* starts chasing its own tail like a crazy dog...smh :(

Its only $18 (Roughly £12) So 3-4 beers at the local for years of Development, Additions + FUN.

Must I remind you Pirating Software is ILLEAGAL an frowned apon in the Overclockers forum.

Good Day Sir.

Don't think you can comment on 'priciples' really, the demo is the try before you buy version, use that instead. Just walk into Game and tell them you'll bring it back and pay for it when you enjoy it

Surprises me how stingey some people are over a few quid for many hours of entertainment...

What principle would that be? See, I can quite understand pirating stuff from a big publisher like EA or Activision, either because you disagree with their business practices, or the simple fact that you can't possibly hurt them by it. No matter how many people pirate their stuff, they still rake in embarrassingly large heaps of money.

But that doesn't apply to small indy developers like Squad. They actually need support from paying customers in order to complete their work. Whilst in the former case you can fool yourself into thinking you're some kind of robin hood character stealing from the rich to give to yourself, in the latter, you're stealing from the poor to give to yourself. That's despicable.

Two questions for you pro's (or anyone who has got further than me (I haven't even landed on mun yet!)).

1. Is there any way to 'get rid of' debris in orbit? i.e. I have a load of old rockets and fuel tanks floating around in various obits and it's annoying to see them..

2. Is there any multiplayer features in the works or planning to be in the full release?

1. Technically yes, but it takes a bit of finesse and it's not supported by existing game mechanics. You have to rendezvous with the debris and try to push it retrograde until it falls out of orbit. It's a pain to do because if it doesn't have a docking port, there's no way to secure your rocket to it. It'll keep slipping sideways and rotating in awkward ways, so you'll have to keep readjusting. But it can be done with a lot of patience.

2. Again, it's not supported by game mechanics, but there's nothing to stop you sharing save files. I heard of one community project called Goonstation, where you'd get the latest save file which has a station in orbit, add your own modules to it, and then re-upload the save file.

Thanks. That's a double shame though.
1. I suppose it's accurate in a way that you can't just delete the debris.. Still annoying though, I really don't have the time or patience to rendezvous with the rockets and try and nudge them lol :(

2. I kinda meant like being able to play with someone else at the same time. Maybe (hopefully) it's something they will include a lot further down the line.

Hello an welcome. :D

1. Depends on what build of the game your using?
The Demo: No.
The latest 18.1 Build: Its easy, go to the Observatory. You'll find your ship has left loads of Debris or "unknown" vessels, Left Click an select the big Red X on the bottom left of the screen.

2. Sadly No multi-player.
It's not that they don't want to implement it, but how do you code or implement a server system to handle that many physics calculations?
- At the moment the only working system is to swap the .sfs file which handles the Persistence element of KSP.

That only works on ships, not debris. Just trying it ingame now!

Odd I managed to get rid of all my debris in the manner Seanog said.

Updates on my station, I've successfully gotten an unmanned 3-man escape pod up to the station. Was a bit hairy as I didn't include enough fuel. Took a lot of time to equalise orbits using just RCS :)

A nice picture perfect moment occurred while docking...

Thanks that worked for me. I'd never actually looked at the observatory. No more broken ship parts in my way now :D

fine i will pay for it jebus christ ....

Can't you just go into tracking and see the stuff there, or have I got a mod that enables that?

Half the fun is designing/flying ships not to leave debris. Separating just before toy reach orbit. Using separations. Using a mod like remote tech: network relay to take controll of jettisoned parts and deacelarate them. Assuming you left a touch of fuel left.
