Killzone 2 - Enter The Killzone

Postman came and went. Didn't even ring the bell ffs!! Damn recorded delivery. It's fast but it needs to be signed for!!! grrr. Got to head down tomorrow (apparently I have to wait for 24 hours!!) and pick it up now!

hrmm been trying skirmish - maps are very cluttered even though they are big :/ can u spot enemies in this? i always hear gunshots near me but theres no one there lol.

i would go down to your post office/ collection centre asap; i never wait 24 hours, its usually there when i call and i can pick it up right away.

The controls are now beginning to bug me; it's fine in nice open areas (which makes me wonder about the fact the entire demo was relatively open), but as soon as you get in corridors, up close to the enemy, the input lag really shows itself.

It's a really great game though, great cinematic moments and loads of capture and hold sections (which are always my favourite in FPS'). The action really does never stop, even when you characters exclaim 'clear! move out.' after a fierce battle sometimes a helghast will jump out and surprise your team which is a nice touch. The vehicle section was a bit iffy... well due to controls again actually, tbh this is potentially one of the greatest shooters ever marred by annoying input lag.

I've read the online has no input lag, if so that's fantastic, but then that makes me wonder, why put it into the single player game?

Been playing for the last hour.

I don't like it...

The controls are terrible, the lag with the viewing around is getting on my nerves also.

I'm surprised though as i loved being on the beta at the end of september...

again not noticed any input lag, feel sorry for those that have this issue, all i did was change to ALT 2 and enable zoom

dunno what to say, maybe you're just not fussy or are so old you don't notice it? ;) :p Haha j/k

It's definitely there though.

maybe but i don't know what to believe on the issue as its for me such a non issue but it makes you laugh and wonder what and if there is an issue at all or is it just those who have an issue with the controls because they are crap at fps, or just cannot adapt to a different feel that normally other games don't mess with

for example this site is saying its improved although i still cannot see any difference

Killzone 2 MP Controls

A look into the controller lag fiasco.

A few days back, gaming forums around the world went on fire with angry gamers complaining about lag issues in the Killzone 2 Demo. Frankly though, we ourselves had that problem, thus saving us from the 1000's of amateur videos on youtube demonstrating the delay. Based on our final retail copy, we can safely say that such an issue was only present in the demo for some godforsaken reason. The retail copy is smooth while still incorporating the "weighty" control scheme in the single-player campaign. The multiplayer though is much more "responsive" which should come as a happy surprise for COD4 aficionados. How did we test multiplayer you ask? Easy.. with final servers still unavailable, we fired up a round of 'Skirmish' and the difference in controls was very much apparent. Skirmish is the replica of the multiplayer component in Killzone 2 that allows you to play with bots rather than human opponents.

I have noticed there is a new option in the mp controls (or was that there before) to lock crouch ?

Just been playing online with Carlazi, must say once you know the maps and get used to the game the mp is feeling very good, with the ability to create small max 4 man squads on a separate voice channel, being very cool.

I like the way the game flows between types on the same map too, you dont feel the break (although you do need to wait until the set of games is finished to recieve XP.)

To those not liking the controls in single player; after playing around a little i can confirm the lag is most definitely not present in the multiplayer. I fired it up and instantly noticed the difference in control.

Which now begs the question, who on earth does the single player have this issue...

Why didn't you download the SP demo?

The single player is still very much playable with the lag, but it was frustrating to fire up the multiplayer and suddenly have silky smooth control in the same game engine. Really is puzzling me.

hrmm so many enemy rpg troops...not liking that. Went back to default gun. Shotgun is too slow - u miss once and ur dead. At academy...no idea how far in that is. Very good graphics and environmental effects (even if at times it kindof obscures vision)

couldnt get into online coz of network errors but they have/are releasing patch today for it

im loving the single player of this, its excellent. Tried a little of MP, wasnt quite sure if anybody was bothering to play it properly, none of the objectives were being done! wouldnt mind a quick sort of deathmatch to get used to the controls.

Wohay just got home and found it on the kitchen counter. I'm going to single it first then move onto the ol' multiplayer side of it.
