Kimi Raikkonen to Renault

Its demo spec (rock hard) rubber so I doubt the times will be comparable to anything else.

I hope its close between them, keep things interesting. I imagine Grosjeans only target for the year will be to beat Kimi.

I think (and hope) that Kimi can drag that Lotus up the grid. Mind you last time I said that was for MS and we all know how that turned out!

Rather down to their budget, isn't it? Renault have pedigree, a engine good enough to win championships and now a potentially great driver (if his head's in the game). It's not beyond the realms that they can do it if they've got the money and can put the team together to make good use of it. We are, after all, talking about a team that won in 2005 and 2006 - that's not that long ago.

Maybe the same team location as 05/06 - how many of the crucial aero etc people are still left though?

Also the sport has changed significantly since then (from out and out racing to more tactical, not to mention KERS / DRS) , and its due to change even more before they want to win (end of 2014 season)

Not saying they cant do it - but there are still substantial hurdles to pass over before they are even close imo

I like Kimi and have nothing against Grosjean, but my hope is that Genii-LOLtus-Renault end up at the wrong end of the pack....

They really haven't won over many fans have they. ZG002 suddenly lost all interest in the ride height thing once he learnt that it was Lotus Renault and not Team Lotus (Caterham). I expect a lot of other people share the same viewpoint. With the whole Singapore cheating, and then bullying Fernandes out of the Lotus name, they have become rather disliked by a large proportion of the fans.

Personally, I hope Caterham out score them. It would be the ultimate kick in the teeth.

My viewpoint has always been that they shouldn't even be in the sport after Crashgate. Nothing anyone has ever said has convinced me otherwise, though I accept that it'd be a shame to lose another couple of cars off the grid and put all those people out of work.

Andrea Moda were banned in '92 for the remainder of the season after Spa for bringing the sport into disrepute, but since the boss had just been arrested on fraud charges they were going out of business anyway.

Wow, didn't know what (I was 6, lol). From Wiki is looks like they were kicked out of the sport for simply being comically crap (before the whole fraud thing). Far less serious than deliberately causing a crash.
