Kind of feel sorry for this dude

So 13 days ago i sold my RTX 2080 Ti for £800 to a dude on a selling site with zero fees or postage.

After yesterdays show, the 3070 is better at only £469 with far superior raytracing.

Anyone else got lucky selling theirs before they're now not even worth £500?

He probably doesn't feel too good about it now but at the end of the day it was his choice to make. In life you have to make mistakes to become wise, if he feels bad now he will have learned a valuable lesson and will be much better off for it in the long run.

he still has time to claim for a refund :p

People have been buying 1080 Tis on there for well over £400 for most of the year, despite being able to pick up a brand new 2070 Super for £50 more. There might be a crash in prices right now as Turing owners panic and flood the market trying to offload their cards, but I wouldn't be surprised if prices went back up after that. I'd still expect 2080 Tis to be going for well over £400 six months from now. And that's if the promise of the 3070 being slightly faster across the board is actually true.

Agreed, the extra VRAM on the 2080 Ti might keep some value as well.

Surely Nvidia are going to make the supply a non issue as they should want to flood the market with these GPU in order to avoid people buying ps5 and new xbox consoles. They will drive sales and lose support if they make them impossible to get.

I sold my 2080ti for £780 about 5hrs before the announcement yesterday with £1 final fees.... :D

Have they paid yet?
If it were me I'd happily re-adjust the price if they asked. Knowingly selling something not worth the price anymore, I'd feel like I'm ripping someone off :), even if they're silly enough to be buying around the time of a new release.

I have a 2080Ti that I would now be looking to offload now but I'm not sure what it would be worth now? If the 3080 is better and £469 then something round £300 probably seems right for it.

I'd rather be doing what i'm doing playing Xbox One X and "twiddling my thumbs" than being 300-400 down in a matter of only 4 weeks.

But hey if you have 300-400 to throw away, good for you.

Me too. Lol.

Yeah, my post was BS wasn't it, I would be crying right now if I was that dude. I try to look on the bright side but it just isn't happening. LOL!

I remember selling a GeForce XFX Card over a decade ago, really good one at the time and the buyer was so happy with the price, how I'd packaged it etc. he sent me a message after to say how thankful he was. He didn't have to do that. I could have got more for it but I always price things reasonably and the sense of satisfaction in knowing that they're really happy and you've agreed a fair price is great. I run two businesses and it really means a lot when I sometimes get the occassional text from a customer to say how happy they are, not everyone bothers to send a message after they've bought something or had their computer repaired by me, but I always thinks thats really nice when they do, puts a smile on your face!

I've kept mine as it can go to my son, I already had 2 years out of it so its cost me about £1.50 a day effectively
