nine years and 3 million pages of script: Acting in a video game epic

It's thought that KCD 2, which came out last week, could be the longest video game script ever written.

Im about 3 hours in now just doing the main story mission and its way too slow for me, should i go make my own fun or just keep following the main quest?
Does it change as i progress?

I still don’t understand why they made the two main characters so incredibly dull, if I saw these lads in real life I’d cross the street just to avoid having to talk them.

Presumably because every single conversation in the game is seemingly dragged on for way too long. So much filler dialogue that makes the conversations feel unnatural rather than natural.

At times it feels like they are trying to fulfill a word count requirement for an essay

You can or you can save bolts and just use rocks.
Doh't - Didn't think of trying that, ****** a lot of people off with a drawn bow / crossbow getting nests out of trees, best nest find so far was a ring worth 100 groshen, but get annoyed with the games physics when nests unnecessarily roll down hills for 20+ meters and you end up loosing them in long grass.

loved Henry’s reaction to having to shovel the **** out of that Inn’s latrine. Got a proper lol from me.

Yep! had that happen twice to me now! Did it roll? Didnt it, is it in that long grass!! FFS then scabbing about waiting to the inspect nest text to appear :D

I haven't played it yet, but I fear this too.

This is partly why I didn't play the first.
(Also because it didn't review well)

But this one seems to be getting universal acclaim so it must be doing something right.

You can make your own "fun", but there can be a price to pay. Like in real life :)

It just may not be the type of game that appeals to certain people especially adrenaline junkies who like linear fast paced looter shooters. To me this and Stalker 2 are great slower paced games which reward exploration of their large open worlds and you're very much left to make your own decisions with the game playing out accordingly. You can tell that both these games are ones where the devs have invested a lot of love and dedication into their projects and are not just trying to use the same old tried and trusted formula to maximise profits, which I guess ends up making them more niche.

I agree with you here but in my experience about 6 hours in total now its just too slow for me personally and not enough combat.
With Stalker2 i am in combat infinitely more than in KCD2.
I do admit to being more into combat and gameplay than story or anything else hence why im struggling to really get into it.
So far for me i am hearing two other games im heavily invested in calling me back to them instead of pushing on with KCD2 for now in truth thats on me and not KCD2 i feel.

This is what i would call a true RPG. There is a lot of roleplaying, loads of conversations, many way to complete quests, side stories intertwine with each other etc.

It isn't meant to be fast paced or just full of combat, this is for fans who love stories, side missions, lore and exploring an open world sandbox set in medival times.

I can see why some people wouldn't like it but for me its great. I haven't even touched the main quest since the prologue.. im just running around doing side quests and exploring. I love seeing the different impacts my actions have to people and the world around me.

If you need instant gratification or loads and loads of instant combat this game isn't for you. If you truely enjoy and open world RPG, with loads of dialogue, side quests, your choices mattering etc in a medival setting then you should enjoy this.

I would always recommend playing the first one, yes the 2nd has some QoL features which are great but the story and side missions are just as good in the first. If you don't enjoy the first game then this game wouldn't be for you either.

Maybe these types of games just aren't for you. I'd save your money instead of being disappointed.

You liked everything about KCD1 except for the combat, do you feel that KCD2 has less combat than KCD1 or that the everything else (aside from the combat) of KCD1 was better than the everything else of KCD2? Just trying to ascertain where KCD2 lacks for you in comparison with KCD1

Been avoiding spoilers and tip videos (Despite youtube trying to spam them), loving it so far. Very relaxing with some nice little stories on the side :)

Did they add a dot for the range weapons in this game?
Just been hunting on the first one and even when a Hare basically came right up to me, I still couldn't hit the *******.

That said, it was very satisfying when I did nail one from quite far away.

Same, I haven't got around to carrying on the main quest storyline for ages, I've been sidetracked with about 8 different and big side quests and a lot of them seem to intertwine with each other which I'm very impressed with. This game is amazing.

edit: it's also refreshing to have a game out of the box with no bugs, everything has worked flawlessly so far. Other games companies should take note.
