Kingdom Come: Deliverance / Open-World RPG / Medieval History

Started this game a few days' ago. Enjoyably different so far although I think will be challenging!

I've had one sword fight since leaving Talmberg and it was quite straightforward but I think he was a pretty basic bandit. Current strategy is to waft the mouse in a different direction to where I'm strafing. Need to work out when to use L/R button soon. Made a change from getting completely out punched in the opening fist fight. Will go see the Rattay guy as soon as I can.

Finished yesterday in search of a spade...

If it's the one I'm thinking of, you need to listen for a dog barking...

This game certainly doesn't hold your hand when you need to seek items to complete certain tasks :).

Thinking about replaying this masterpiece. It has been 2 years already since I finished it, crazy how time flies.

^ What graphical bugs did you have? I never had any. I must get back into this game, I drifted away from it as I can't fight anyone yet, no idea what I'm doing!

The graphics were one of the biggest draws for me at the time, beautifully atmospheric at times. I also made a superb (if I say so myself) reshade mod that makes it even nicer. Mainly warms up the colour tones as it's quite a 'cold' colour tone on sunny days that doesn't suit at times (that pic above is a good example). I also added dynamic depth of field, that works really well.

Finally finsihed the game and it was brilliant. I actually enjoyed taking my time wandering around taking in the views and acting like a peasant trying to do good. Washing whenver I could. Repairing my clothes etc.

The only thing that had me gnashing and wailing was the fighting. I generally stayed away from it as I wanted to play a stealthy person. I loved waiting until nightfall then creeping into camps and either poisoning the food or killing everyone as they slept. However the story forced me to take up arms and go fight some pretty rock hard opponents that really annoyed me.

Overall a fantastic game.

The visual warmth you get is heavily dependent on the area in the real world, and in my (infrequent) visits I've found much of Eastern Europe to have less warm visuals than say Southern Europe. Therefore, the game to me was spot on in its colouration.

Does this have HDR support?
Not that I know of. It might support the AutoHDR feature once MS makes it available on Windows.

Agreed, I live in this country and it looks spot-on

love this game, graphics are superb and i like that i can play it at a slow pace and explore and look around. very atmospheric and really pulled me into the time period and way things were done.

You can try adjusting the heapsize.

Set this in the games launch options on Steam. If you have 16 GB or more RAM type in “-heapsize 2097152” and if you have 8 GB of RAM in your system then type in “-heapsize 1048576”.

Do a before and after with frame rate recording software, see if hat helps. If not, dial back the Shader Quality. That has a fair amount of impact.

Bear in mind I played this first in 2013 when it barely was an alpha, I was lucky to break 25fps at 1080p! lol.

I just installed and tested for a few minutes - it looks great. Picking a game for the weekend and fancy an RPG, its this or Skyrim.

Messing about before starting afresh, I went rogue and picked a fight with a villager, won the fist bout; the poor soul cowered and pleaded for his life. I turned me back to pick up the hay fork to commit murder and I couldn't pick the fork up (might be me) - He ran off.

I think I was influenced to the dark side - Someone on Twitch was trying to poison a whole hamlet!?! :D

Is there anything in particular to dial down that will give better FPS with minimal compromise?
Shadows on ultra is murder. Not only are they somewhat broken but lower performance heavily. Make sure to put those on high or very high at most.

You can check my settings:

They are at the end of the video (readable for you after I switch the language in the game to english).
I found that to be the perfect compromise between performance and visual quality, on my PC.

So what is the deal with the combat? It caused me to abandon the game and I'm reading that it's been the same for others. Is it just poorly implemented or so unusual that folk aren't getting to grips with it? I don't have a lot of patience for playing stealth all the time and would like to give it another go. Is the combat experience much different on controller vs. m & kb? Someone allay my concerns and send me back to this game please...
