Korean Grand Prix 2010, Korean International Circuit - Race 17/19

Maybe it's just that I'm a big JB fan but has anyone else noticed Leggard's almost disdain for the current WDC?

He's always quick to say "Jenson's doing ****" but always bums Lewis and doesn't say anything when his luck is down.

Likewise, when JB is doing well he won't mention it but you can count on him praising Lewis at every possible moment!

Does my nut in!

Reading his latest blog :

"But Jenson Button's successor as the next Formula 1 champion? Alonso, Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel maybe, but not the 34-year-old Australian who had only won his first grand prix in 2009."

.... so even though JB is a ridiculously close amount of points behind LH he doesn't have a chance at the title - but Lewis does?

This was written on Friday.

He is a *******g muppet. The only reason I have to put up with him is because of how awesome MB is. The difference between MB and JL is like night and day in terms of their F1 knowledge it's laughable.

Now I've said this, wait until the race in the morning and you'll see what I mean. I noticed it at the beginning of the season. It's almost as if he personally doesn't like Jenson !

It's funny. For the last 3 races or so, people have been harping on about Alonso's engine situation. Yet, for whatever reason, he continues without any problem.

Vettel may yet win this year's title.

Would be one hell of a comeback if Vettel or Alonso won the title. I just keep watching Alonso expecting his engine to go pop. Will be impressive if it holds up for the rest of the season - they don't even seem to have dialed it down (if they have then the aero package is working very, very well).

JB is your steady eddie. He can almost guarantee to get his car to the finish line. He won't go super quick, but he is uber reliable and makes fewer mistakes than any other driver on the grid.

His problem right now though, is that the RBR car and Alonso's Ferrari are faster...plain and simple.

JB does not have the brute speed of Alonso, Vettel or Hamilton. To this end, in order to beat those guys, he would need a DNF from the other guys or rain.

While Hamilton has a small chance of winning the title, Button will have to rely on Vettel, Webber, Hamilton and Alonso to ALL mess up in at least 1 of the remaining 3 races. This is highly unlikely.

Think about it, even though Hamilton had 2 DNFs and a broken car for 3 races in succession, Button was still unable to overtake Hamilton in the title standings. That alone has to tell you something.

For all these reasons, I 100% agree with Leggard, of all the top 4-5 drivers (in the WDC), Button is the least likely to win.

Alonso still has some old engines available doesn't he? he has just used his full allocation of new engines, he would need his old engines to blow too before he needed to take a new one?

There were a few more Legardisms today it was cringeworthy and put 5Live back on again. For the whole weekend (even before it), it was obvious that the Redbulls would be slower in the fast section one and could make up the time up later in the lap, but he just couldn't understand that. So when both Webber and Vettel were down a bit in first sector, he went over the top and thought they had blown it

The best one recently though was the opening speech at Belgium. "Spa - The shortest name, the longest track". Oh wait, try using its proper name - SpaFrancorchamps!

HE is a complete douchebag, but most people like it when Lewis does well, because he's normally driving by the skin of his teeth, passing people, closing gaps, driving brilliantly, he's pushing a not as good car and making it competitive with a MUCH better car.

When has Jenson done well, last season with a car no other car could come close to, the title was over before Red Bulls became competitive, this season Jenson doing well = everyone else screwing up.

Lewis has WON races, Vettel and Webber have won races/not thrown them away, Alonso has WON races.

Button has been given races, he's literally done nothing in any race to WIN it, two guys out in front in the first race of the year(was it the first, or near the first, memory sucks) both WAY faster than Button, pit first thinking everyone was going to pit, they didn't, Button gets gifted another result.

If Button ever by being the best drive went out and TOOK a win off the other drivers people might like him, problem is he doesn't EVER do that.

If you take out last season, no one on earth thought he was a "great" driver, if one year the rules say you can't have a turbo, but some magic team finds a fancy way to add a turbo and quite literally there is no competition, its not special for the team with the turbo to win, the difuser last year was as good as a turbo. There was no skill to win the title last year, whoever was the top driver at Brawn last year would have won the title.

Thats my problem with Jenson, he's never won anything, he's not screwed up when gifted a humoungous advantage, which is VERY different.

Senna, Michael, Mansell, Prost, Berger, Mika, even DC have all gone out and BEATEN other people. Button's probably the single most average driver and most unworthy winner of the title I've known(I don't remember every winner).

I mean, the german even went and smacked Hill off on the final race of the season to clinch a title, I can't even imagine Button doing that, he just does nothing, he's one of the most boring drivers EVER in racing. This season, people can't pass him, he can't overtake anyone at all, even significantly slower cars. The most exciting things he did last year were using team orders to pass Rubens.........

LEggards an utter pratt, but on that one subject he has a point.

I agree how utterly bland a driver Jensons been this season, it is a shame, his only real chance of staying within clinching the WDC again is if Alonso/Webber/Vettel/Hammy all DNF, other than Hamilton that seems unlikely :p

I know its easy for me to say as a spectator sat at home at 5am in the morning but its boring listening to his excuses about tyre heat and whatever when Hamilton in the same car is spanking him time and again,

Go Hamilton!! (moneys on Vettel :()

hopeing for a webber win here, i think out of anyone he deserves it this year.
would have loved to see lewis take it but its just not happening this year, but either way i'd still be very pleased for webber if he took it.

will be setting my alarm for the race tomorrow, wether i make it out of bed or not is a different story, all depends on when i stop drinking...

JB's taking a beating here today isn't he, I fully expected Lewis to absolutely dominate him this year but JBs held up well. The points difference may flatter Button as on a few occasions Lewis ran into bad luck and lost good points, so it could be argued that there should be more points between them than there are. That said Mclaren need to get a 1 2 tomorrow but JB can't make up nearly that many places and Lewis needs a cracking first lap.

You clearly don't actually watch the races. Red Bull should have won races on pace early on last season. They got stuck more than once behind other cars and made mistakes in races as well to hand the lead to Jenson.

There were more races the red bull was competitive than the Brawn. The Brawn fell apart at Silverstone which was less than half distance in the season. The red bull 1-2 at china and should have won more of the first 8 races than the two they did.
