This is being used as a political football as usual, Rittenhouse is being charged with murder and given lots of coverage whilst the Portland shooter who executed a 'Nazi' (Trump supporter) and then was conveniently gunned down in a police shoot-out is forgotten.

It's quite clear that you haven't unless your interpretation of the events is wildly different to almost everyone else.
Self-defence v cold blooded assassination and it's the case of clear self-defence that gets all of the media attention because the prosecution file frivolous charges and the left wing media blow it all out of proportion like they did the Russia collusion conspiracy, only to now tell us that elections are totally secure.

If you look at the filed charges it's full of frivolous stuff like "the man with coloured pants jumps at and over the defendent" with clear pictures existing of the person attempting a flying kick/stamp to Rittenhouse's face after he had fallen down. Most of the charges would get laughed out of any decent court but it's a political football, the media ignore Antifa members assassinating people whilst smearing people for just trying to defend their country from violent Antifa mobs.
I've watched the footage and it's clear you've not even familiarised yourself with the basics of the case - whats your basis for claiming he crossed state lines with a weapon?
If that were the case then why is his friend being charged over supplying the weapon to him and storing it for him in state?

You seem very muddled on the self defence aspect here too and you don't provide anything to support that claim either.
Point you're missing is that he fled from his attackers first in all instances, he wasn't the aggressor here, the self defence aspect is pretty obvious.

Some great reporting by the Independent so far, that he yawned in court is their choice of headline. The Guardian points out that he's the only person to shoot someone, well duh! He seems to be the only person to have been chased down by an angry paedo intent on doing him harm/taking his rifle from him and who'd made death threats and was only released from a mental hospital that morning. Then of course he was chased/attacked by various people while fleeing towards the police, something he'd said he was doing and something the protestor who was shot in the arm was well aware of.

Also I saw the NYT video a while back which had a good summary, I was aware there was someone else who fired the first shots but there is some more detail now, I hadn't kept up to date on this case but this video has a good breakdown on the timeline of events and is worth a watch:
The guy who fired first (Joshua Ziminski) as Rittenhouse is being chased has also been arrested and charged for discharging a weapon, the youtube video even shows footage of him pointing to Rittenhouse before the incident.

Generalising a bit, is it a good thing he is being prosecuted as then he could not be prosecuted again? Double jeopardy and all that.

The video seems to just lay out the time lines. Frankly I find it amazing that a 17 year old was so disciplined given a literal angry mob was chasing him, some of which were yelling "Get him!" some of which were armed etc. The guy who's bicep got blown out only got shot once it was revealed he hand a handgun.
What a 17 year old was doing with an AR15 however is a good question. America just seems insane sometimes....

The article headlines. The whole situation is a mess but given what we know a out the circumstances he did well not to just spray and pray at the mob.

Haha its like the Derek Chauvin thread all over again. The same people saying no way is he guilty, its a travesty, anyone who says different has no understanding of the law/case. Lets see what happens come guilty or not guilty day.

I will be absolutely amazed if like Chauvin he isn't found guilty. I think the real lesson here is that sensible people don't walk the streets with riffles all the kid had to do was stay home and let the police do their jobs and he wouldn't have found himself in court instead he travelled a considerable distance and then got tooled up for some vigilante action as per the old saying if you play with fire......
