But, if the theories are correct, it's only Africa can can claim to not be populated by immigrants. After all, genetic studies imply we all (from Caucasian to Oriental to Negro), ALL came out of Africa ..... if you go back far enough. By that definition, the US is a country of immigrants, but so is Japan, China, France, Germany, Iraq, Eqypt, Israel, Australia ..... and the UK.Borris said:

How long do you, or your ancestors, have to be resident in a country before you become indigenous, not an immigrant? To my mind, if you were born here, you aren't an immigrant, even if your racial antededents lie elsewhere.

I'd go with that.. Heck, most parts of the "REAL" europe are better then the UK. Yorkshire can be quite decent at certain times of the year, as can the Lake District... It's not the actual land I hate, its the muppets running this country I've got the problem with.. Oh, and London.. Should nuck that from space, just to be sure..!!

Every time someone mentions the UK becoming part of the US, I get this image in my head of the old style weather maps with little oars poking out of the sides slowly rowing the country across the water and it makes me giggle lots...
