Also as you all now know, since OcUK was taken over, we will now deal with the full warranty term and sort with Asus for our customers for the 3yr period. :)
Does this mean RMA is sorted out within say a week with OcUK, or do we still have to wait a maximum of 28 days according to what T.S deem a reasonable period of time for hardware to be replaced/repaired?

Used to buy Asus regularly at one point.

Give me a working week turnaround, like it would for Gigabyte, and maybe even more people will buy Asus products. :)

Hi m8

If its within 28 days, yes its fast, if its within 1yr and the product is still current pretty quick, maybe 2 weeks or so.

But if the product is EOL, then it depends if Asus decide to repair, if so that could be a while, if they credit us then of course very quick, you get a credit at market value to then spend on a new card.

Cheers good info that, better than all the other retailers thats for sure. :)

How long are these offers going to be up for? I have some serious thinking to do

Trying to convince myself that my system will horribly bottleneck a 7990 and that I'm better off going with the Matrix...

...That price though!

Is there no info on when the newer cards will include AMD game bundles? Even a rough estimate!!

I do actually want a 280X, but I also want all of the games as I haven't got a few of them, but not paying more for less.

I am not an expert and am sure someone will be along to give you a more definitive answer but I don't personally think an i5 2500k clocked at 4.5 would bottleneck the 7990 .... :)

how bad's the coil whine on the 7990 though, reading some reviews, the early 7990s do suffer from some atrocious whine...

Aaarrggghhh!!!

My credit-card is maxed out and won't reset until the 28th, hopefully there will be some left by then.

DAMN YOU GIBBO AND YOUR AWESOME DEALS!!!

:D

People have reported coil whine, in some cases its cured after being ran for a few days but if its really bad coil whine then you rma it nothing to lose.
I guess I was lucky with mine I chose gigabyte zero coil whine and have yet to see anyone posting about a whiny gigabyte ...... though I don't read every post so I stand to be corrected:)

Do a bit of googling and get an idea of which cards may have a higher rate of coil whine?

a 7990 is the same as 2 x 7970 in crossfire, CPU will not be a bottle neck

Thank god my PSU isn't beefy enough and that I'm planning to size down to a mATX case, otherwise a 7990 would have been making its way to me.

Gotta say I'm loving this price war, the XFX 7990 (without the PSU) is now ~£372 and if I'm honest I think we probably have Gibbo to thank for that too due to his ridiculously good price on the Asus!

No sleep & no beer make Gibbo something something....

Go Crazy?

Don't mind if I do!

I must say, those amazing AMD deals the other month have jaded me a bit, because that 7950 price isn't doing much for me. Still, I paid £240 for my first one, and they are pretty damn sweet. Cool and quiet in xfire is a real luxury!

Not just Gibbo, we had our input as well :p But yea, this is amazing.. :D *sweaty palms*

dont think brand matters for current 7990s at the moment cuz they're all reference cards currently

Excuse me for asking, but just how true is that statement? I was under the impression that ASUS are a much higher quality brand than XFX, so I would assume that even if the card and cooler are the same basic design that the ASUS one would (at least on theory) be worth a premium. Are you saying that if they are all reference, it is literally the case that they have identical components built to the same exact spec?

I've been ignoring your 7990 deals waiting for the 290x but at this price you are making it really difficult.
