LAPTOP - 2.5 to 3.5 converter issues!

Does it appear in the bios when plugged in?

We have to reimage laptops from an ide channel, and the common mistake is putting the adaptor the wrong way round. Pin one is at the jumper end on the 2.5" hdd.

Neither are on the same IDE cable as the hardrive or DVD Drive.

Too be honest I am not sure which way the adaptor goes on. The power slot for this is also very tight to get in as well.

No it does not appear in bios

OK, if the laptop drive is on a cable by itself then it should be set as master, ie no jumpers required.

Both the adapter and drive should have some indication as to which pin is Pin1, these should line up. Don't worry about the power socket being tight, that's fairly normal.

If the drive is not detected in the BIOS it may be becuase the adapter is on the drive the wrong way round.
