I dont even get why the hell they would choose to do an experiment that could end the world.. what the hells the point lol

There won't be anything going on in the LHC that doesn't already happen in our atmosphere when the cosmic rays slam into it so the whole nonsense about this causing the end of the world is just down to people liking a good scare story.

When they say there's a chance the world could end they're talking about the similar kind of probability to the chance of you passing straight through a concrete wall if you were to walk into in it.

I am quite excited about this, if they do discover this new particle it is quite a leap for science and maybe some kind of unified theory as the one we use now is obviously wrong. Shame I will be asleep when it happens, just hope I wake up.

Nothing's happening on Wednesday; they're just testing it with one beam…

No they're not.
They abandoned the "testing" phase due to the fact if anything went wrong it would take months to get any section that failed back into operation. (due to it taking weeks to cool down to -270 degrees C !!)

So on the 10th they are going for it...

They're colliding TeV beams on the 10th? What's your source?

That is far from a professional approach, wouldn't it be better if something went wrong testing rather than with the actual experiment, i mean, what's the rush? We've waited millions of years to try and find Higgs Bosum, another couple of months won't make a difference. i read / heard that they were only using lead particles to begin with then they were to start smashing atoms in October some time.
