Large Hadron Collider

I'd hate to be the cleaner who has to go round at the end of each day sweeping up all those smashed bits, they'll be everywhere! :(

What? Time is as much a dimension as space. To specify any event, you need (wrt local coordinates on earth) latitude, longitude, altitude and a time.

There's lots of post 5 pint pub talk going on here!

Yeah, i should have been more clear, i meant time changing to a dimension like space, from linear or 1D to 3D, meaning you could in theory travel to any time and any possible reality in the multiverse, crazy idea i know.

Anyone know exactly what time it's gonna get switched on or whatever is gonna happen?

I've been waiting for this since like January, it's been put back so many times!

10th September (this coming wednesday) at 0830 BST apparently.

Ah cool, cheers man :)

Will probably be in lesson at college, but will remember to look out for it :)

So is that potentially when the world could end? Or will that not happen until the first collisions happen? Which is in a few weeks/months time I imagine.

Anyone watch the program on BBC 4 this evening :) was really good. Oh and also Radio 4 are having the whole thing live 6am onwards on Wednesday

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/bigbang/programmes.shtml

Was watching, and while I won't even begin to pretend I understood half of what was said, I do find everything surrounding the LHC absolutely fascinating.

Do rather hope they don't destroy the earth on the 10th though.... I'm getting Sky HD installed :D:p.

I dont even get why the hell they would choose to do an experiment that could end the world.. what the hells the point lol
