Laser Eye Surgery

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have failed at trying to find the main one on Eye surgery (I'm sure there used to be one many pages long). I'm looking to do it, but I live a bit more up north than you guys and I don't really fancy travelling to London for it. I'm -2 and -2.75 so not too bad, but I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years and the thought has crossed my mind that it would be cheaper to go for Eye surgery (and hopefully avoid some of the issues with contacts). Doing a small bit of research I'm not sure whether I'd prefer lasek or lasik as there seems to be pros and cons to both.
LASIK uses two lasers, first lifts the flap, second corrects the eye. LASEK uses one laser, less invasive and ideal if you have thin corneas.

I manufactured contact lenses for 19 years, that did come to an end 20 years ago so technology has probably improved, however, I remember some of the extreme prescriptions we used to get due to laser surgery going wrong and it’s put me off for life

46 now and I’m noticing my eyes getting a bit blurry, especially at close range, is this an option for me?

Laser surgery won't but you can get lens replacement surgery that will. I've been thinking of getting it done but I don't have the money for now.

(Whoops, hadn't noticed the thread necromancy)

Think this was the thread you were looking for -
Not sure if mods want to bother merging?

I had mine done in 2006 at Centre for Sight, went for LASIK as the recovery time is quicker, so much so that I was amazed at the difference even in the car on the way home.

Eyes are still good, no issues apart from the usual age related up close reading. I might look into the Supracor Lasik for that.

Thanks, I searched for 'eye' and 'surgery', but I guess I didn't scroll far enough down.
