Last day at work.....What to do...

I have to agree with option 2, MrLOL and Bledd. This is generally what all call centre/help desk/support desk jobs are like to a varying degree. Try and move on to something unrelated and you will notice a marked improvement.

Also, don't burn bridges. You never know what life is going to throw at you. You might need a job in five years and it turns out that the manager at the place of your prospect new employer is indeed the man whos doorstep you **** on those five years previous. It's not worth it, really.

Just feel good you are on the home straight and getting out of dodge. That should be enough!

At a factory i once worked at, machine operators had to be at their press 5 minutes early so the previous operater could 'hand over' the job.
On the other hand though they were allowed up to 5 mins extra on breaks to allow time for walking to/from the staff room, getting a coffee before sitting down etc. which is very fair, so no one complained about starting early.

Another job i had years ago was in a warehouse. while they were not that strict with starting times/break times, our contract said that all work was to be completed before
going home, which is fair enough but when your finishing time is 5:15pm and the sales staff are taking orders right up to 5:00pm, we very regularly worked past 6:00pm with no overtime! eventually after a couple of years we got our overtime pay.

I say, **** the reference, these ****s have been ruining your life for what 4 years?, jesus let em' have it, and no mistake!.

Damn right, they had the cheek to pay you for four years work and had a bonus scheme to reward employees. They also apparently didnt do much to make your life any more difficult than necessary, yeah **** 'em! burn that place to the ground!

Wow there is just so many posts, i cant reply to everyone.

To give you an example i start at 9am. I leave at 8.20am and get to work for 8.40am.

I log into the computer (which takes upto 6 or so mins) and then instantly get a call. There is no way i would log in at 8.40am, so i have to "time it right" Otherwise i would be work free for around 30mins a day. Assuming i did that on all breaks.

Im not stupid, i work for a business. What i am saying is i am angry at all the goal posts being moved. they have trimmed everything down to like one mintue.

Anyways back to OP :p i am going to smile and wave :D

Have you got a fax machine? do they still exist?

Selotape 4 pieces end on end, write "shove it up your bum" or something equally childish, fax the main number or head office, when the first piece is through seleotape it to the last and walk away :)

You get a call as soon as you put your password in? What sort of odd routing system do the have in place that routes calls as soon as you have logged into your pc?
Who you currently work for?

Leaving a job on bad terms is a bad idea, the reference might come in handy. Worst case you might need to work for them again if things with your Dad fall through.

Cant say who, as they use a search engine for social media - and this would show up lol

But yeah i log into the system, it takes a minute for it to log in, then once i am logged on "BOOM" i get a call. I cant stop that :(

Doesn't sounds right to me either. Every CC environment I've known has one of two options to log into the ACD system - either a "hard" log in via the telephone handset, or a soft phone utility via the PC which again needs a separate log in. Also these systems almost always log you in and set status to not ready so you have to make yourself available manually.

Nope, if calls are Q'ing and i log in then i will get a call. No ifs or buts about it

But how do you handle calls without your pc fully being up and running? Given you are quoting fsa stuff, surely you need other thugs in front of you (crm app or something) to deal with calls?

Log onto desktop

then log into program. As soon as i log onto program, boom i get a call.

FSA is attached to every desk,

its very annoying indeed, as if you log in from break and forget to put on headset, you can miss a call etc etc

...and this is where he'd be expected to attend his desk and ensure all of his equipment (including PC, CRM s/w etc.) is prepped and ready.

In a call center environment, your starting time isn't the time you arrive and get things booting up etc. - it's the minute you begin taking calls.

Sounds like your employer has found an ingenius way to turn a 'carrot' into a 'stick' - well done them

Seriously though, if they are petty enough to come up with countless rules to relieve you of your bonus, shouldnt you be worried about them taking legal action against you if you choose to flame their entire email system? Most boiler-plate employment contracts have clauses in about misuse of IT systems, Id be very careful how you tread!

Seriously, you’re going to go far in life!

I work extra hours at work for FREE! All the time, why? Because I will be rewarded in due time not by my boss or even that company but by my own ability to work above and beyond what is expected.

but its also swings and roundabouts, I have the doctors...my boss doesn’t care and doesn’t deduct it from holiday etc because he knows I'm a workaholic and also pays me really well because of this, I doubled my wage in the first year and gained 7 industry qualifications in the same year (paid for by them) and none of that was from "clock watching" and moaning and feeling hard done by.

just get on with it and quit moaning, leave and be happy in your new endeavours.

Crush up a few viagras and mix it into the drinking fountain water, no one will consider it a prank as they will be too embarassed to say anything about their day long hard on.
