Last day of the Premiership.. *Match SPOILERS*

Ah, just found it on the UEFA site. Celtic would take our spot in the qualifiers. I remember Tru mentioning it in the CL threads actually, but I just assumed he was on about some sort of coeffecient malarkey. :o

EDIT: :D ;)

That wouldn't help even if it will please you. That will still leave 1 team short for the 3rd of qualifiers.

Or they could make Liverpool play another qualifier after the 3rd qualifying round. There are a lot of possibilities, but whether or not UEFA carry them out is a different matter. I'm not really fussed on us having to play a qualifying round, but Ferguson will be.

Offical document from UEFA: http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/19071.pdf

Page 1 explains the entry requirements for the competition.
That only explains that if a team wins the CL but finishes outside the top 4 then the 4th place team goes to the Uefa, doesn't say anything about qualifiers etc.

How about they kick Man Utd out of the CL and offer the place to Spurs as long as they play the qualifier, im sure Spurs won't mind :D

Celtic get a group spot if Barcelona win, and have to go through the third round qualifiers (thus, "taking our spot") in Arsenal win. Simple really. Don't ask me why them and not someone else though.
Linkage provided. Fourth paragraph down.
I think that is refering to Barcelona would have already have an automatic spot from winning the league so if they win they would have another automatic spot, therefore the highest ranked side without an automatic spot would take it (ie Celtic). It could be given to Arsenal i suppose, think we'll have to wait and see.

That's the same thing though isn't it? If an group-stage qualifying team wins the CL, Celtic would get the easy route, but if a qualifier-placed team won, then Celtic have to take their place in said qualifiers. It doesn't matter who is involved in the fnial and who wins and whether or not they finished 1st, 4th or 29th in their league, it should still all even out under that rule.

For instance, Arsenal's position in the league wouldn't have actually mattered in UEFAs rules, as it's the final that counts. If Arsenal lose, then they (or Spurs if they'd finished fourth) will have to qualify and Celtic don't. If Arsenal win, then Celtic are pushed back a round and we take their group spot, regardless of whether we'd come fourth or not.

I know what you saying makes sence, but there has been no clear decision saying that if Arsenal win then..... just one that if Barca win then....
Its just, by the same arguement that if Arsenal win then there is just as good a reason to make Man Utd to play a qualifier as there is for Celtic to play one (as they have both finished in what should be an automatic spot). Just have to wait and see.

Well done Spurs, an immense effort and the best season we've had in many a moon. Probably a blessing in disguise we didn't get into the CL,

"don't try and run until you can walk" and all that.

Cracking season and mission accomplished, Europe here we come... at last!! :D

It certainly didn't do Everton any favours this season .Disappointed for the spuds really, but if they are not to qualify it is better it happens like this, than if they'd finished 4th and Arsenal won the CL

Celtic get kicked out because they are from the worst league. I.e. when making room for Arsenal in the group stages, the lowest ranked club from the lowest ranked country gets put down to the qualifiers.

I told you we would win today.
Chelsea rarely beat us here , loads of celery related malarky today , I grabbed a chelsea fan after the game and took him to that small alley off bath lane.
No matter how hard I tried that bit of celery would not fit up his arse side ways and niether would my pint glass.

What a shame.

LOL.

aye sound depressing.

wasnt top rate chelsea like..

imo.. the owen thing i think he has been asked not to play, lampard/terry not playing i think owen has followed suit for england... i dont see why some people are panicking thinking he wont make the world cup..weird.

what a goal by tightass too...and we need to keep the zog.

edit: im not trying to justify anything, id rather see owen out for us today...
Out today than what ?
Than giving a return on the the £17m we spent on him , or the £120k a week we pay him or how about the ten games he has played for us?
Hes a Newcastle player , first and foremost therefore England can doo dadoo!
