Hi there

The Samsung G700 which was destined to arrive December but never quite made it due to reasons back at Samsung HQ shall finally be with us tomorrow, the specification has improved slightly, hence the price movement upwards and the weakening exchange rate, but this is still by far the best gaming laptop money can buy and one of the best quality I've ever used. Was really gutted when I was told they'd never get here, so the fact we have confirmed delivery tracking for a truck load with us inbound tomorrow, very excited to push these again:-

Samsung 700G7A-502UK 17.3" 3D 120Hz WLED TFT, Intel HM65 I7-2670QM 2.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, ATI HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5 Graphics, Win7 Home Premium 64-Bit - Black @ £1,649.99 inc VAT

An optimized Gaming mode and ergonomic backlit gaming keyboard also give you even more performance and control, while awesome 3D surround sound and a full HD 17.3” display bring games bursting into life. So if you want to play faster, bigger and harder, but do it with a real touch of style then you need to own the 700G7 notebook.

With its state-of-the-art graphics, powerful, high speed processing and stylishly elegant design the 700G7 notebook is the perfect companion for sophisticated gamers.
Serious gaming calls for serious hardware. The AMD RadeonTM HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5 graphics card features a new and advanced architecture delivering unprecedented video quality and supercharged
performance for the uncompromising gamer. With full support for DirectX® 11 it delivers visually stunning games, as well as significant performance improvements when viewing websites and using everyday applications.

Innovative Express Cache technology provides 8GB of flash memory on the motherboard that works as an ultra fast HDD. So it significantly improves startup, application launch, Internet surfing and information access speeds, while maintaining the safety and integrity of your data. Its intelligent, automatic caching takes 25% less time to boot up and starts Internet Explorer 50% times faster.

A next generation quad-core Intel® CoreTM i7 processor delivers bestin-class performance for the most demanding applications and games. It dynamically allocates processing power where it’s needed most using intelligent Turbo Boost technology. And when the notebook is in gaming mode it turbo cools the CPU, so it always delivers maximum performance even in extreme situations.

Give yourself an advantage by switching to Gaming mode. It turbo cools the CPU to keep it working at full speed for non-stop gaming action. The Windows key and touch pad are also disabled to avoid accidental interruptions, and the main gaming keys are highlighted in red, so you can play faster with fewer errors. Plus it activates special wall paper and theme controls. And when you’ve finished playing a simple Mode Dial lets you switch quickly to 3 other modes for optimum performance. Balanced mode is ideal for general use. In Library mode fan noise is reduced and any unnecessary lighting or sound is switched off. And in Green mode you can save power eg. during long downloads.

Features a high quality gaming keyboard with a desktop layout, including ergonomic u-shaped key caps, a 2.7mm keystroke and separated arrow keys. The keyboard is also backlit in white in dark environments or blue in Gaming mode, which also highlights the main gaming keys in red and disables the Windows key, so you can play quickly and precisely for maximum results.

With a full HD 17.3” LED display you’ll enjoy clearer, more vivid images in 16 million colors. Its 400nit brightness is also 2x brighter than normal laptop displays, so you’ll never miss a thing. And it has less mirror effect from surrounding lights, like lamps, so you can game for longer without your eyes getting tired. Enter a new dimension in 3D gaming and enjoy 3D movies and games in full HD quality. The combination of a 3D screen*1 working at 120Hz and active shuttering 3D glasses*1, using proven Bluetooth technology, produces much smoother image playback and more natural colors with noticeably less visual disruption. Enjoy high quality cinematic surround sound with Dolby® Home Theater ® v4. It delivers crisp and clear 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound through the built-in speakers and subwoofer, headphones, external speakers or a home theater system. So wherever you’re playing you can immerse yourself in full-impact surround sound and savor all the subtle nuances of today’s games.
The performance and 3D is simply breathless on these and works very well and very easily. :)

i have one of these, and its awesome. However is your spec right here: Storage: 2TB S-ATAII Hard Drive (""5400RPM""", 1TB x 2 in RAID 0) ???

Mine has 1.5 TB, but 7200 RPM.

Yes Samsung have updated the specification slightly. :)

As they use express caching technology they have indicated the spindle speed makes no difference and therefor felt 2TB storage was more desirable.

Had a play with one, can't tell any difference in performance between the 1.5TB and 2TB version, apart from obviously another 500GB storage.

Laptop looks great!

I am trying to decide on a new laptop, this looks promising...

Although I am quite interested in a Clevo laptop too.

Any chance of some pics from someone that owns this laptop?

Would love to hear some more feedback.

Thanks :)

Thanks Blueshift, from what I have been reading around the internet it seems to be a DVD restore disk, but who knows, seems they have changed the spec of this laptop a few times and every region in the world has a different spec version. US gets Nvidia Graphics, UK AMD 6970M and other places get 16GB RAM too and different CPU.

Blueshift if you don't mind too when you get it can you check if the headphone socket is also an optical out for audio or the mic socket. I read somewhere it will allow 5.1 and 7.1 audio out to AV amps but im wondering if they meant via the HDMI.. I hope it does it via an optical too but I maybe able to get away with running the HDMI to the TV and using the Optical out on the TV to atleast get Dolby passed threw, I know My panasonic Plasma won't pass threw DTS threw it's optical out which is a royal pain in the rear but atleast it does Dolby. The manual may state if one of the jacks (headphone/mic) can be used as a 3.5mm optical out. I think this is the laptop to grab this year and if it can't do optical out I may buy a USB soundcard that can do it for it to connect it up to the TV/AV setup to get DTS & Dolby. Thanks mate.

blueshift how you finding the laptop mate ? I did read up that it does not have a SPDIF (Optical audio out) which is ashame but can use an external sound card for that I guess.. Is there a Full restore disk ? or do they give you a way to create one or again does it have a restore partition.

Not here yet mate, but i will let you know:)

Its all ok people going on about these M18 etc, but I have My Samsung 700 laptop now on my lap, and is perfectly fine in "normal" mode, typing away. These Alienware m18 ""Starting at weight: 5.41 kg (11.93 lbs)"" are more or less like desktops, as in theyre not really usable as a laptop, definitley wouldn't want that seated on my knee all evening.

Mine came with restore disk, and windows 7 set up disk as seen in pic.

Thanks Antx777. Will be grabbing one today from OCUK if Gibbo can sort the price out (OCUK said they will look into this yesterday).

::EDIT::
Just been told the price won't be changing.

Just ordered one from elsewhere sadly OCUK couldn't match the price :(. On a good note praying the place I purchased it from gets it to me tomorrow and then I will try put a review up for people interested in it. I will be ordering 8GB more ram for it too next week, once I check out i'm happy with it and it works well. Just seemed to good a deal to miss out on and can see these becoming very popular and as we all know more popular tech stuff gets more it costs later after release. The Alienware gear just couldn't swing it for me and they looked too kiddy for my liking and I would like to use this for work too and an Alienware just looks out of place in a work environment. Anyway will see tomorrow if all the hype over this laptop is worth it, i'm updating from a Sony Vaio P4 2.8ghz with some dedicated 9800 pro mobile I think GPU (Was like top of the range at the time and I have owned it from new for over 10 years now I think and only the HDD got updated and memory since I had it, it's also never missed a beat too even after being dragged half way around the world a good few times), my partner uses the Sony now for her university work and she's happy with it but she can't lug it about due to it being built like a tank and has some weight behind it. Hope the Samsung lasts as long and proves to be as reliable.
