Lateness at work

Many people drink during the week (i dont have an issue with it) and many people struggle to get up in the morning. Just been a bad combination of delayed trains and me not leaving enough lee way time and me over sleeping occasionally due to me going to sleep to late.

I value you my time outside of work and I would rather stay up an extra hour than sit at starbucks in the morning

But i know it is my fault and i can't blame anyoen else, will try to sort my time keeping out. thanks for input.

Staying up an extra hour, doing what, playing games on the pc, watching the tv, fapping the bishop?

If you keep this attitude up you won't have your job for much longer and tbh I don't ever see you getting let alone holding down another job. What then, the dole?

Come on, have some pride in yourself, sort out your drive and you might actually go somewhere. Plus you'll feel better for it!

I use the Jubilee Line and Central Line, both of which suffer frequent delays yet I've only been late twice in 2 years. Wake up earlier if you suffer from such frequent issues.

Jubilee Line is awesome, the new signalling system really is amazing :D

Can you explain why 3 trains in a row were put out of service at Wembley Park and I had to wait 8 mins for a Stanmore train? Or when they put trains out of service at Willsden Green? RAAAAGEEEEE.

No one goes in to work 30 mins early every morning. Well not anyone i have worked with. How many of you arrive at work 30mins early every morning?

I start work at 8.45am and 95% of the time am there by 8.30 ready to go if needbe.

I have just thought of something, if the OP has found that he was struggling with getting into work on time, why didn't he bring this up with his manager before? A word with your manager about this sort of thing before it becomes a bigger issue is far better than being disciplined for poor attendance once it has become a big issue.

Perhaps doing this he could have adjusted his hours to say 8:30 to 5 rather than 8 to 4:30.

Then he would just get in at 9am!

One thing I have noted is that Groen listed 2 dates as being late due to tube strikes but fails to realise that on one day there was no tube strike and on the other day the tube strike started at like 5 or 6pm so wouldnt have affected him getting to work.

Sounds like you've got more problems than just work. I'd see someone about it.

This, very much so. You get up late because you stay up late the night before and drink too much? Not to put too fine a point on it, but that makes you an incompetent employee. You clearly have no control over your alcohol consumption and it's affecting your work. With the information you provided in your OP and the reasoning since, unless you're leaving out crucial details it looks like you're a huge liability at your place of work and it's shocking that you haven't been fired for it.

I am actually a very dedicated and hard working employee and the client is very impressed with my performance.

just time keeping issue as explained in great detail. Don't need your degenerate comments thanks and you can remove that sig now.

...but like everyone, i over sleep and forget to set my alarm sometimes. Anyone else have this problem?

No. In 21 years of work i've never been late and in fact i'm usually 30 minutes early.

If one of my staff was late as often as you i'd have fired them by now.

I'm not often late, but the roads round here can be a little bit unpredictable at times. Some days it can take over an hour to do a 12 mile journey.
On the days where I am caught out a little with the traffic I will always stay late and make up the lost time at the other end of the day.

Even on days when I'm on not late, I rarely leave on time.

I have good managers and no-one has ever commented on my lateness as an issue.

I think I ghave been late twice in 4 years. That was due to traffic. Anyway, I always get to work 15 minutes early to do a shift handover with my mate. Got to, otherwise you do not know whats going on :D.

Last time I slept in was about 9 years ago.

I think moreso the problem is that you are expecting your work to accommodate your obvious organisational problems rather than dealing with them yourself.

I don't know whether its irritating, laughable or tragic that you place little blame on yourself and think that your workplace is out of order.

I too am a nightowl and seldom go to bed before 1.30am. Doesn't mean I'm not through the door for 9am in the morning - I don't expect the company to accommodate my sleeping habits even though they are the most relaxed company in the world.

I genuinely hope you are trolling because your attitude is flabbergasting.

Always 5 to 10 minutes late in the morning and it's only a 4 mile drive with hardly any traffic.

Going to look for another job though, because i just don't like working in the environment where you are on written warnings with ultimatums like "you are late once more and you have another warning" i just can't take that stress, so ill be moving on.

Stress???? I'm lost for words. I thought I would only read this sort of stuff in The Sun newspaper.

the supervisor has it in for me because i moan at him because his job is pointless and he does not know what he is doing, so this is his way of getting back at me.

I would have thought he has it in for you due to poor time keeping. Yes some supervisors may not be good to work with but it doesn't excuse your own problems.

After reading all of this thread I'm starting to think you need professional help.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I don't consider myself to be sucker. I have just always done what I needed to do to get to where I wanted.

Hat off to you Gordy. Did you study something in particular at University to get where you are?
