From seeing this, I think it's clear that propper damage is an unrealistic expectation from this gen, and probably even the next!!!
These cars look great, the driving physics (admittedly, only when the car is grounded and not bumping into stuff) will be spot on, as they always have been in GT games, and each and every slight adjustment and modification you make will have exactly the effect it would on a real car as we've come to expect.
Sure, there could be something middle ground for damage, something that looks OK and affects the cars a bit, but what we all want and what we've all been expecting is real damage.
Can you imagine if in the first big collision in the vid (17 seconds) the front wing crumpled and the tyre burst?! I'd love it, it'd be amazing, but seriously, can you imagine the power that would be required to show scratches and dents that look as good and realistic as the pristine cars do, not to mention the changes to the physics and aero dynamics that would affect how it moves with panels/spoilers missing, no windscreen, busted tyres/suspension etc.....
I thought that's what we might get from GT5, but seeing the video made me realise, I don't think the PS3 is capable of what we want
