Laurence Fox

Looks like my post in this thread explaining what happened has gone

Ah I missed it(?). Surely if there is some issue with mentioning that guy then you can somehow allude to it?

Said mod got upset and deleted all of my posts and banned me from the thread.

Ah, I don't post in there much but I can guess from previous occasional times they've popped up in GD who'd throw their toys out and/or abuse their mod powers over something like that.

Hahaha! And he waited for this specific headline to make that suggestion, did he? What a coincidence.

I mean I would say he is making this suggestion because footballers are the ones kneeling against racism and its a high profile footballer accused of multiple rapes but thats clearly a very loose connection...

Its pretty easy in this day and age to label any comment related to a black person racist though so crack on.

It is pretty weird reading some of the social media commentary. People seem genuinely more bent out of shape about Fox's comments than a guy who raped 4 people. Honestly it's astonishing.

Not really. Fox's comments challenge an ideology that demands absolute obedience in all things at all times. To its followers, that's far more important than 4 people they don't know.

You're trying quite hard there fella, I mean it wasn't just "any comment related to a black person" now, was it? His intent is clear. I don't recall him piping up about Giggs or even Sigurdsson...

I dislike the BLM movement, but I couldn't justify making such a stupid statement.

Well Mendy is charged and being dealt with by the judicial system, where as Fox is on the receiving end of public justice. If you think it is only supporters of BLM who are dealing it out then you are mistaken, and if you think they don't care about rape victims then you are bordering delusion.

Giggs hasn't kicked a football in nearly a decade and both of them are white. Nothing about his tweet was overtly racist. Like I said, the current trend is to attribute anything negative towards POC as racist. And like I said, Fox is a ***** but hes mainly that. This wasn't racist it was just stupid.

You say this yet still don't see it? Do you see any issue with @The Running Man continually bringing up grooming gangs whenever there is a discussion of Islam, or @Dis86 consistently bringing up crimes committed by black people whenever someone mentions penis size?

I don't honestly follow either of them so I have no context here. I am only commenting on this one incident.

BLM is only one strain of the ideology, so no I don't think it's only supporters of BLM who are doing it. It's common to all strains of the ideology of authoritarianism and irrational prejudices that's called "progressive" by its supporters. It's common to other ideologies of authoritarianism and irrational prejudices too, but they're currently much less powerful and therefore much less harmful.

It's hardly unusual for followers of an ideology, especially an authoritarian ideology, to regard the ideology as being more important than a handful of people they don't know. That's reality, not delusion. And that's what I said. I didn't say what you wrongly claimed I said.

OK, so just for clarity you think the vocality of these "progressives" against Fox suggests they care more about defending their own "ideology" because they are not also publicly outraged for victims of rape or against perpetrators of rape? That's quite the analytical leap. Would you not consider my previous point regarding public and criminal justice to be a factor in the disparity, or perhaps even your own social radius of perspective?

Digital blackface. Really?

No. That's the position you've created for you to argue against. You're both sides of the argument you're making. I don't see where I fit in.

How about you just stop attaching a position you've created to me? It's not my position.

Perhaps you're not explaining yourself well enough then, as I've inferred the same from both of your posts.

How has that removed the ambiguity? Seems he was tweeting about footballers kneeling against racism so perhaps they should kneel against rape and sexual assault and all the other ills in the world.

Mans a ***** but I'm not sure how this proves hes racist.

but didn’t tweet 4 weeks ago when a white football coach was charged with assaulting and raving 4 women? Where was his outrage then? If he had then he would have had a valid point.

but he waited for a black footballer to be charged.......hence people having a go at him.

if you end up where you only ever talk about crimes committed by black people and ignore the same crimes by white people then chances are you need to take a long hard look at yourself.
