Lazy man's diet

Behave, it's not been that bad :p Look if you're serious about getting in to it, read Steedie's diet thread that is linked in the sticky. It's a gold mine for people starting out fresh (or even experienced people) that have a lot to learn. Read that, create a new thread with your new questions, and see where it goes from there.

You'll have to forgive our quickness for discrediting people so quickly, but we do get a lot of people coming here, asking questions, ignoring solid advice, then continuing to troll us. Consider it a defense reflex to separate the wheat from the chaff. (if that's the right expression)

Edit:
In fact, how helpful of me; here's a direct link:

Its ok thanks guys, im not really in the mood for sarcastic and pointless replies. Only one reply was helpfull, kind of...

Don't be sensitive, you asked for thoughts on what is a pretty bad diet. You need to be asking specific questions around what people have highlighted as issues with your diet, it's how a discussion works.

I'm not sure what you were expecting? Have you read the stickies?

Honestly, from so much previous experience i'm over threads when they turn in to:

You clan buddies should stick to the PC Game forum and leave us to give advice here.

TFU - bunch of misc posters, will fit right over on bb.com

Seems like Badboy has made up his mind from previous dealings here. I'm not going to judge either way and just rather not get drawn in to it all.

I will take a good look thro the stickies tho and have scrapped the propsed diet. Cheers for any advice anyways.

Nice one!

They were valid points, I'm not sure why your clan buddies are wading into the discussion with provocative comments.

Anyway, read the stickies and come back with any questions.

Long and short of it is, make sure you're getting plenty of protein and fats in your diet; these are more important than carb-rich meals. You want to be doing resistance training (ie, lift weights) to increase or maintain muscle mass whilst doing this. If you do lots of cardio and don't eat enough, you WILL lose weight. And muscle. And as a result, simply look like a smaller version of yourself now :)

BadBoy's obviously got a bee in his bonnet, and Apok is obviously oblivious to the fact the 'BB.com mentality' has spread far beyond Sports Arena; it's very much a Internet-wide now-a-days. And lettuce beef real tea for a moment here, I doubt it even originated from BB.com

People always get wound up when you throw insults at them, whether in jest or not, unless you insult me i just laugh it off :p.

But to be more constructive, i will echo what others have said read the stickies, Steedies in particular would be rather enlightening for you.

So SO much "do you even lift bro" stereotypes in this subsection of the forum. Everyone just seems to say everyone's diet is **** but will not follow up on ANY form of advice on how the OP could improve it, the best response you ever get is "ermahgerd sticky thread lift lift bro".

You guys are putting people off posting here. The way I see it, either offer good advice (with reasons) or don't bother posting, what's the point.

Following my post, I'm quite new to this and I'm listening to my PT. My current diet consists of (currently out of work) so times vary.

Breakfast 8-10AM: 2 Wheetabix/porridge with a splash of skimmed milk.

Mid morning snack: Apple/Banana/Protein shake

Lunch: Brown rice with meat/chilli - wholemeal bagel loaded with meat and salad.

Dinner: MEAT + LOTS of veg.

Is doing me very well so far, also snack on babybels/raisins/nuts and quite a few other things but that is a typical day for me.

EDIT: Should probably post my height/weight and macros etc, but this was meant to be more of a guideline, nobody is the same.

The reason people point others to the stickies is because of the sound advice contained therein, why respond with information that will just be rehash of that content instead of directing them to said appropriate information?

Not only that, probably the biggest reason people poke fun with meme's or whatever is likely because the usual format a "discussion" over someone's diet goes which usually follows something similar to.

Poster posts incorrect or poorly researched information asking for critique.

Poster gets critique from knowledgable members but it isn't what he/she wanted / expected to hear and so insults the advice given by said knowledgable members, often insinuating they know better even when that is obviously not true.

Poster leaves because they got the advice they wanted but it didn't match with what they hav come to expect due to whatever reasons, insulting the people giving them advice to others.
The way I see it, either offer good advice (with reasons) or don't bother posting

You could always follow your own advice?

How is posting an example, badly described diet without the reasons behind following said diet, or your goals exactly helpful or good advice?

Have you read the stickies?

Not enough fat in that diet, bro.

And by bro...

Pretty awful diet. Lots of refined sugar and poor quality nutrients. Yes that advice is given because it's the truth. As for knowing what we're talking about. Just look at some of the guys here. Most lift more than 90% of people in most gyms and are in fantastic shape. If you're going to cast aspersions at least know your audience.

Schnip

Ahh the classic indignant poster who whilst blindly following his - which judging by your diet - pretty poor PT, has a rather strong opinion on this subsection and the stickies contained within, which again judging by your diet, you haven't actually read.

We created the stickies so that we don't have to give 1 on 1 advice to every newb that comes this way asking to sort his diet out. Bearing in mind this is a FREE resource, and people normally pay good money for having a dietician present them with a solid, safe and nutritional diet, I think the fact we have a sticky on this subject and point people in that direction is commendable.

As for the Do You Even Lift culture, this has existed in gyms for years. It's just now leaked out on to the Internet and become mainstream with those that don't even lift. Misc is a great example of that; I bet only a fraction of the members on Misc actually lift to any real degree, yet the personality of the forum is rife.

Don't hate the players, hate the game :p
