LittleBigPlanet is to be released on the 3rd of October.

Also released on this date...... FIFA 09. :(

It's going to take a miracle for this game to get to number 1. It's a shame that such innovative games get out done by below average sequels.
 
Did you just call Fifa 'below average'?
I'd be amazed if LBP was a better game than Fifa anyway, nor will the playability of it last as long.

It's not really that much of a shame is it? Just because it may not reach number one in terms of sales does not mean it will be unpopular. Everyone knows LBP will be a big hitter with long legs.

Dont matter what game is released that day Fifa 09 will be top of the charts as it will be released on nearly every format under the sun ! If LBP comes out the same day as fifa it may well take the PS3 no.1, but no chance of a multiformat no.1.
 
Who gives a damn apart from economists (though there appear to be a lot of them on this site) just buy the game(s) and enjoy it. There will be plenty of people buying it so don't worry about community size.
 
How popular is football in this country, football games are massive its always going to get to number 1 does that mean that LBP should be number by merit.

People who want LBP will buy it people who want Fifa 09 will buy it, the more people that one of the games will put it to number 1.

I'm sure it will be. LBP reminds me of some of these flash games you get online (obviously the good ones). Fifa 08 was amazing, the tweaks for Euro 2008 were great and they've made around 250 more changes.
