So going to get a GTX280 I think, question is whether to get the Leadtek or pay a little more for the Gainward?

Deciding factors are exactly what bits'n'pieces each card comes with and what their support/warranty/RMA is like. Anyone have any experience?

Both poor so take your pick.;) though if i had to choose it would be the gainward as i like the color blue.:o

Seen a few bad reports about their customer service around a few forums, but for the price they are cracking value and you probably wont have any problems with the cards anyway, IMO gainward is better than leadtech, their ATI cards are superb.

They are the same card from same factory with a different sticker......

I used to have a gainward 8800gtx until it burst into flames due to overclocking at 648/2020 incresaing PCIe volts 0.1.

One of the power smoothers burnt out.

Which is exactly why I'm asking about support experiences and bundled hardware as these are the only things which will distinguish them!

OK sorry.........I think both are in the kind of middle of the road in terms of support.....some have had good & bad experiences with both....in which case i would go with the cheapest

All my cards have happened to be Leadtek so far, i don't know what the support is like as I've never had a problem.

You normally get a free game with them.

Ok thanks. Not too bothered about free software, more whether things like HDMI adapters come with either as they may prove useful and are a few quid to source later if needed.

They both have fairly poor support - Leadtek has slightly better support I'd say but gainward has better quality cards - they seem to go for a higher speed bin quality or something.

I'd go with gainward personally just because they've been far less problematic in my experience than leadtek.

I'm hoping gainward get back in the game - they seem to have sorted out their RMA procedure finally but you have to jump through hoops and it can take a couple of weeks - there was a time when they were very good.

i bought a gainward gtx280 3days ago for 237 delivered with their 10% off thing, i'm more than happy with it, at that price, with regard to poor, have you been reading all the issues on here people are having with 4870 and 4870x2, to put it into context.
only issue i have is a lack of an air cooled after market cooler for it, but im pleasently suprised that it is'nt that loud, certainly not like my old x1900xtx
i went for the gainward, because it was more of a brand for a tiny bit more £ at the time

Had a 6800GT from Leadtek..it stopped working so sent it back..they proceeded to send me 3 dud cards in a row to replace it - I checked the reg no. to make sure they weren't sending my same card back in different boxes and they weren't ...they just kept sending me cards other people had sent back for being faulty. In the end got one that worked..was over a month later.

I have owned several Leadtek and had no problems. In the event that something bad does happen, the retailer is responsible for covering the first year's warranty, the manufacturer covers the rest.

So if you only keep the card for a year, it does not matter which manufacturer you choose.

Well I was all set to buy a 4870 until the Vista64 & dual monitor issue showed up. No way am I taking the chance now unless the problem is categorically fixed this week (yeah right!)

Not really an issue for me as it's going to end up with an EK waterblock slapped on it :)

Actually thinking along the same lines myself
