Will have to get in a couple of days practice before I get down there - I won't have had a drink for 2 weeks (I only get back onshore on Wednesday afternoon) - don't want to peak too soon and miss the fun

I have bought a second hand laptop (which should, hopefully, arrive before next weekend) and I was planning on bringing it with me.

I will probably want to access t'internet on the Friday night/Saturday morning and am not sure what this involves when in the hotel.

If someone could let me know what is required to do this (I am staying at the Hilton, so maybe Math might be able to help) I would be most grateful?

If your lucky they might have a WIFI network (but even if they did you'd still need a WIFI card in your laptop - and if its an old lappy it more than likely wont). You can always use 56k dial up from the room, but it will cost you being hotel phone charges.
