It has provided the most fun (and swearing) I've had in gaming all year.
I don't find it as expansive as DM. The limited magic, as in selecting a school, is rather stultifying and the lack of attack option is weird as well. No "jabjabjabjabjabjab" those screamer plebs and no associated levelling dependent on the skills you use.

I've started a new game as him but just saved right at the start, going to give it a break before running through it again.
I don't know what's got into me, playing as Toorum is now my third consecutive run through.
Yes, I can see what you mean. It is a little simplified in comparison, I'm just glad we've finally got something of the same ilk.
I read somewhere they've released (or are on the point of releasing) the mod kit for it, with a bit of luck we'll get a DM mod in the nice shiny new engine before too long.

Thanks for this, I remember DM from my youth ahh the days of the Atari ST. When it came out I remember reading a interview with FTL about the devs making the disk drive randomly read the disk to make you think you were about to be attacked.
