Legend of Grimrock - Dungeon Master Fan's !

Legend of Grimrock! What a gem!!!

This is in the Steam sales still I think. I picked it up yesterday and played it for a couple of hours solid last night. What a game!!! LOVE IT!

The puzzles are fun and a little challenging (only on level 2 out of 15). Enemies have strategy to them, such as weaknesses and such. There is a nice easy RPG element to it.

Really enjoying it! Story is simple enough to follow with a twist starting to unfold. Which has me lored into it more than usual.

Strongly recommend this game, real good fun!

I can't wait to go home and discover what lies ahead for me!!!

Just picked this up in the latest Humble Bundle, haven't had chance to try it yet but I've heard nothing but good things, looking forward to giving it a go!

Ah, same, Humble Bundle haha, getting mixed up between where I got games! So I didn't pick this up yesterday, just saw that I had it!!!

Glad people are enjoying it. I've picked it up in the bundle too but not had chance to play as of yet. I've been picking up indie games to play in bed on the laptop when I'm not in the mood to go on my PC for "proper" games.

FTL is my firm fave at the moment, will grimrock knock it of that mantle?

Awesome little game, some good puzzles in it as well, not the easiest game ive ever played which is a good thing :)

I got my butt handed to me once, in the 'grave' on level 2. Had to work out a way to stop getting mullered by those knight dudes. Worked out cornering my self in one of their little rooms did the trick. Funneled them 1 man a time to me :)

Love it! Nice playing a game you have to think about to accomplish your goal.

I also rather like the contrast between weapon skills being right-click-to-smack-things and magic skills requiring the correct rune entry, but affecting a whole block of monsters. Make for a nice contrast between the hard-to-use-but-powerful and the easy-but-weaker.

Recently picked up the game as it was only £2.99 in the sales. It's brilliant! really takes me back to stuff like Dungeon Master. Graphics are really nice too, some of the models are really superb and the lighting is fantastic. Really nice that it works with Steam Workshop too, going to be some great dungeons I can do, like the one above Neil posted. It has it's quirks though... such as I really wish the tutorial explained things like:

Blue stones can revive dead team members, to cast magic you have to right click on your guys hand, being too encumbered slows movement speed, let you know falling into the pit is actually beneficial etc.
Also

Level 9 was a total joke, "Oh hey, just put a bunch of random items that you probably don't have with you into these 4 slots and you're good to go". Had to backtrack through 2 levels trying to find a rock and a skull. Maybe I could have itemised better but there was really no indication that they were going to be that important
Really enjoying it otherwise, more than I thought I would as when I tend to revisit older style games that I remember from my child hood they tend to not as good as I remember due to nostalgia. Granted, this came out recently, but it's based on a very old style of playing.

The Level 9 items puzzle is a hallmark of this type of game and indicative of similar puzzles you'd have found in Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder etc. As a kid I'd spend days scratching my head trying to figure them out.

These days after an hour or two I lose patience and have a quick google for the answers.

The other gameplay mechanics mentioned are also typical of the genre - you want to explore everywhere and keep an eye out on every wall for buttons etc leading to secrets.
