Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

How much is the legion 7 3070 model?

Think the Legion 7 has a 3080 not a 3070. Was priced at a retailer at £2399 and they sold out super quick. Would expect the same price or maybe a little bit cheaper. Can however use the 10% newsletter code to take some off.

Forgive me if this has already been answered, I was watching a review for the non pro with 3070, and one of the negatives was the ram was rubbish and was leaving like 10-20% gaming performance on the table, anyone come across that?

I think its due to the single rank ram that is used as standard.

Apparently there is a bigger difference in CPU intensive games.

The ram makes little difference when playing GPU intensive games at 1600P. You would notice a larger difference at 1080P when the CPU becomes the bottleneck.

which did you go for the standard?

i sometimes think the rams speed magic is mythical sales talk. As i swapped out the 16gb 3200mhz for 32gb for 2666mhz i had lying around and my bench mark scores went up lol go figure...?

The regular one with the 1080p display, i'm not expecting it to run poorly, especially with an 8core cpu and a 3070 at 1080p, the option of opening it up and changing the ram is always there if I wanted, but its not going to be used for hardcore 24/7 gaming, only the days I can't be bothered to sit at my computer chair and just chill out in bed playing casual games or youtube/twitch. I will be adding 1tb m.2 in the second slot when I can 512gb isn't going to last me, so i'll probably pick up another WD SN750, got one in my main pc and its been a good nvme drive for not that much money compared to the competition.

Got my lappy this morn, first impression when I got it out the box, was it was quite heavy and feels quite solid (thought I saw reviews say the plastic construction is a bit flimsy, definitely not the case for me)

Turned it on, immediately met with christmas lights flashing in my face from the keyboard, changed that to the second rgb profile in lenovo's software which is much more acceptable.

Haven't really tested it much yet, only the basics for my need, discord, steam etc, its currently downloading some games for me to test but start up, general browsing its very snappy indeed, initial impressions of the 1080p IPS screen on some youtube vids are quite impressive but I don't have a comparison since i've never owned an IPS screen before so you veterans may have different opinions.

Any RTX games anyone recommends to test? Never tried RTX before and obviously wanna try it before I most likely never use again :p

Negatives so far, even with the power profile set to balance, just doing small tasks such as downloading/installing windows updates the fans do ramp up pretty hard, to the point i've got it set to silent low power mode for doing barely anything tasks.

I ordered the non pro version, arrived at 7 this morning!

It may not have the same materials construction wise as the pro varsion but it still feels like it's durable and well built. Not had a proper chance to put the gpu etc to the test but all seems good so far.

Hmmm must admit I'm getting tempted to just order the standard one as I'm sure it will be good enough for what I need, certainly the screen isn't going to be that much of an issue for me as I plan on using a monitor or my TV although if the fans are loud that could be an issue (my series x is silent). If I could replace my series X with the laptop though (don't see why not apart from the noise issue) it would certainly make it more affordable...

Pro is up again to order with the 3060. Sale on as well.

Hmmm now that's caused me a dilemma , £1188 for the pro with 3 yrs onsite warranty but with 5600H/rtx 3060 (8GB RAM, pointless upgrading to the slow 16GB might as well buy some elsewhere). Aaarrrgghhhh I was confused enough now this. I really want the 3070 though

Isn't the 3060 a bit underpowered for the native res of the pro though? I would have thought the 3060 would be a much better match for the non pro fhd screen and a 3070 needed to get the best out of the QHD+ screen on the pro

Further impressions on the non pro 3070, the eye candy and at mostly 165fps is delicious.

I need to find out if I can manually change the fan profile, as soon as the cpu hits over 65-70c the fans are at full blast, though haven't seen the cpu go over 80c, and gpu hit max 76c for me, so good amount of headroom from thermal throttling which is nice, just need to tune these fans but can't find an obvious setting in the lenovo software.

Can't you put it in quiet mode to reduce the fan volume albeit with little impact on framerate? It's odd you're mentioning the fans as I haven't really heard that many complaints about them really so it's a bit worrying really
