Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

I have the Hyper-x IB2K2 Kit but see on here its recommended to get the IBK2 version? I used the IB2K2 version and saw a performance uplift when not GPU bound, whats the difference between the versions? Worth trying to get the other version?

I believe the IB2K2 is the newer modules and are single rank. Might be worth checking on SPD tab in CPUZ.
I'm not sure if there will be a massive benefit of going to dual rank from single.

Any reason?

I prefer the 5800 in the Legion to the i7 in the MSI - runs cooler and seems snappier. That or I just like seeing a million cores in Task Manager! :D

There's not many reviews but the 8 core 11th Gen Intels actually are a little faster in gaming than Ryzen 5xxx so it's not unreasonable. They don't seem to be quite as power efficient though.

I'm not too bothered about gaming performance (albeit being a little faster won't hurt) the reason I want intel over AMD is I want is a thunderbolt port

Looking for a new laptop and this one looks great but would much rather prefer intel over amd. Any info on if and when the intel version is coming out?

Donkey years ago intel were brand to get, however just get what is best for performance per pound, heat, power consumption.

I have and and intel just depends on the generation some intel are better some and.

It does appear the ryzens are very good CPUs, especially those who want lower power consumption.

Evening all. Been lurking here for a bit as I wait for my Legion 5 Pro 16 in Stingray white. My order direct from the Lenovo website started shipping from China the other day and is expected on Thursday 17th June. My product SKU is 82JQCTO1WW with single 1TB nvme and the full 32GB ram (likely the slow stuff, but we'll see).

I've not been able to see a single review of the Stingray version and am a little worried about the readability of the keyboard with that light blue backlight, but hoping it's all good. I certainly like the look of the laptop design as a whole. I'll feedback here once I get my paws on it.

You will love in when it arrives, 16:10 is the way forward now, really makes the screen feel much bigger than 16" Even in this hot weather the temps of this laptop are fantastic.

Nothing wrong with 16:9 but it means you need a big screen I went from desktop 24" 16:10 to 24" 16:9 and you lose a lot of vertical height, so I had to go to 27" 16:9 to make it at least as tall, if not bigger. I considered ultra wide but 28" UW is tiny in height, so I'd need to go 32" but then massive amount of pixels to push 3200x something so just too high on midrange gaming pc.

Probably means 17" 16:9 is advisable I had15" vivobook it's fine for light use and some games but proper gaming go bigger ideally connect to desktop monitor

I've currently got the 2020 Legion 5 with 2060 and the Pro looks like a great upgrade. Can anyone comment on when and where these might come back into stock? Not looking good for availability on these right now...

Personally if you upgrade that often you should be looking at desktops.

I wouldn't change a laptop after one year

Well I got this one for a super super good price at the time and it's been great with my 1080P ultrawide, but having just moved up to 1440P ultrawide it's struggling a bit. Plus, the way that desktop systems are going right now its pretty cost effective to go for laptops. I never seem to lose much when I sell stuff so I doubt I would lose more than 50 - 100 quid on this one when it comes to selling!

Another model you could at is the
Lenovo Legion 7 Gen 6 (16" AMD)

Thank you lads. Which would you honestly recommend out of the two? I have a 1tb SSD handy to upgrade the storage, so it's purely a matter of spending 300 more quid on better visuals?
I think I've read somewhere that the 3070 in the pro version has higher power limit so will be a bit faster. If definitely go for the pro but personally waiting for the Intel version as I want a thunderbolt port.
