Lenovo Legion Go

Finally got one of these and tbh I’m preferring it to the lcd steamdeck it replaces but man the things buggy as hell. Admittedly I’m running the latest AMD AMFM2 drivers so not expecting it to be perfect. Issues experienced so far:

Being unable to log in after a reboot as the pin keypad doesn’t appear (happens frequently)
Audio Issues - Crackling noise and distortion had this a few times over Bluetooth headphones and Internal speakers. Had FXSound installed and people said it is that so uninstalled but have had it reoccur after uninstall.
Crashes in games some to the point that the device locks up and has to be hard booted. Think this seems to be graphics settings related putting them too high and crash. Couldn’t get cod mw3 to run at all without repeatedly crashing even on the lowest settings.

But when it works it’s a beast with the new frame gen drivers.

Not a Legion Go bug, that is a general Windows 11 bug - though I've not had it happen too much on my Go so far. I've a couple of rack mounted "servers" with touchscreens mounted on the rack chassis door and it is super annoying when it happens on those. Really annoying MS haven't fixed it by now.

Not had any issues really with crashing on mine, having the graphics memory allocation on auto or having too much allocated to the VRAM seems to cause some issues though - I mostly set mine to 3GB as if you are using settings which take up much more VRAM than that you are probably not getting playable FPS anyhow, but 1-2 games you have to set it higher really :s

Admittedly I’m running the latest AMD AMFM2 drivers so not expecting it to be perfect. Issues experienced so far:

The AMD drivers, partly due to the reliance on customisation by Lenovo, have been a pain with some versions not installing Adrenalin properly and I've had undesirable results with non-Lenovo drivers modified to work like black screens and lag.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I may try experimenting with the VRAM as mine is set to 6GB as when researching this seemed to be the consensus for the best setting that I found but maybe that’s wrong. Installing the latest driver from AMD was a bit of a faff tbh But wouldn’t be needed if Lenovo were a little quicker at releasing updates. Asus for all the flak they have gotten lately seem to be leagues ahead in software and updates.

Some more recent games you pretty much need 6GB unfortunately even with low settings, sometimes games won't even start with less than 4GB even when they don't use it :( but a lot of the time with the settings which give useable frame rates you'll be under that. Which is why I hope they do a version with more RAM as some games don't like less than 16GB physical RAM like Hogwarts Legacy which turns into a hitchfest.

I'm still using a slightly older AMD driver on mine as I found it gave best results but does lack AFMF2 support.

Had been noticing an annoying whistle from my fan the last 2 weeks, but had been too lazy to do anything about it.
Finally opened it up today, and cleaned the dust off the fan. We keep our house pretty clean, but the fine dust had just built up on the middle of the fan, stopping it working so well.
Had seen a few posts on Reddit for this, so wasn't too surprised. Quick clean and it's back to the normal sound. :)

I bought mine second hand and opened it up to swap out the ssd and even though it was only a few months old the fan was caked in dust so gave it a good clean. Must be the design as had nowhere near the same buildup on my steamdeck either that or the person I bought it off never cleaned their home :)

The 24.9.1 AMD drivers so far are amazing for me on the Legion Go no regrets swapping my steamdeck for this. All the issues I was having seem to be resolved and even the speakers sound half decent after tweaking them with the Realtek console.

Are new drivers out? I might have to fire it up and have a look.

Hello all.

After two days of frustration i have decided to ask for help :)

I have a LeGo and have configured moonlight/sunshine to pair it to my main system which works astonishingly well. I simply can't get over how good games look on the LeGo when streamed like this. However i have been trying to use resolution automation to switch my desktops resolution to match with the Legos to stop myself from having black bars. I have made a custom resolution in geforce control panel which matches the legos res and ref rate. I can change manually to this and launch moonlight and it will full screen the Lego. However none of the automated resolution switchers i have tried seem to automatically swap the desktop over to the legos settings. Im certain it's user error so wondering if anyone in here has set up similar who could help point me in the right direction.

I'm loving mine. Not much of a gamer so bought this really for mobile windows power.

It works so well that I've been gaming more as it's easy just to pick up.

Not had any more bugs than an average windows machine.

I have a spare 1tb drive that I've used in my GPD Win 2. I presume it's quite an easy swap, if not the 30secs on the GPD.

Easy enough to get the back off, but need a decent thin pry tool to get to the plastic clips.

No idea on SSD size on GPD Win2, but Legion Go needs one of the shorter length ones. As long as it's the same length, will be easy.
Before you do it, go in to the BIOS and disable the internal battery. Stops accidental presses of the on button getting annoying, and I guess a bit safer for SSD change too.

Nice. I caught the whole lot on some Steam sale for £8 or something a few months ago...

Would the recommended specs translate to 1440p?

Just got mine at the weekend, after selling my SD LCD due to not using it enough made sense to buy something else......... anyway got it and bought some unknown 4tb ssd from amazon and adapter with good specs 7400mbs etc it just kept BSOD all the time, either trying to clone the original or setup from scratch, swapped it with a crucial p3 plus 4tb and its been absolutely flawless, just installed a matt screen protector today and looks great. In the process of installing some games now. The screen size suits me a lot better and obviously its not quite as fluid as Steam OS but its a lot more use to me especially for things such as game pass and Warzone etc, all in all quite happy and installed the latest AMD drivers today which seemed to go ok. Just trying to setup emudeck atm

Some pretty strong deals on these live today (click through on the store pages as some places for some reason aren't showing the deal price on the main page/search engine listing).

Very tempted to get a second one but holding out for a 32GB model.

Yes I was wondering the same other day too, as they were £550 at EE store and now £569.99 at Argos. Are you seeing them any cheaper than that ?

Also the original Asus Ally is now £400 too, but I returned 2 Ally X's with faulty squeaky shoulder, triggers issue and one also had 2 issues loose buttons too on one with the shoulder button issue.. So gave up on that and was last two they had in store, so couldn't go threw more to find one without issues.. Asus zero QC strikes again even on their latest version..

Not sure if I should go try an Ally original at £400 and knowing the issues with that too and hoping for a good one and hopefully will be easy to return in-store too if issues.. As I would like a smaller device too but I keep telling myself to wait for the next gen, but they also are not showing huge improvements and silly prices.

Also hoping the Steamdeck OLED go on sale and that may tempt me to get one of them.

Returned the Antec Core HS's as both had battery problems/faults and one even bricked itself..

Legion go has been spotless so far and so far the best out of the bunch I purchased, wish I had just grabbed one earlier now and saved all the headaches created by the Antec devices, just wish it had more RAM is the only thing and 32GB would have been great on it from the start or an option with more RAM.
