Lent

I'm giving up giving up. This Lent is excess all the way for me!

Actually, it's not. I've been seriously needing to get the diet and exercise etc. in gear as I need to shift 6 stone, hopefully by the end of the year.

Perhaps giving up alcohol would be a prime opportunity right now, as I do drink a lot.

I use to drink every weekend and when I gave it up by the end of lent I was so healthy, body was totally detoxed, just drinking say Friday/Saturday (binge drinking) is pretty unhealthy and can effect a lot of your organs functionality.

You don't have to be a devout religious person to do it.

Cigarettes. Don't smoke a particularly large amount, and that 46 days would take me up to the day of my stag do. Probably end up smoking again then :D

Well it ends on the Saturday and the Sunday is Easter Sunday so you could smoke and have a big chocolate easter egg :D

Yep, I've already had a telling off from the doctor regarding liver enzymes in blood tests, and recurring attacks of gout.

I tend to go through a 70cl bottle of whiskey and 3/4 beers a week (across friday and saturday), plus whatever random I might have, such as a beer if I go out for lunch during the week etc.

My diet, in terms of food intake, isn't bad at all, but I'm still excessively overweight, and the lack of it shifting despite a decent diet must certainly be attributed to the alcohol (and subsequent snacking when drunk - no takeaways etc, I just demolish a large bag of crisps or something).
