** Leopard is here! ** Ships 26th October! **

I assume this has to be done from a Uni or sommin to make it convicing?

Over the web you can only get HE from a Uni, yes. FE can be done from home, HE and FE can both be phoned and stored too. (Store you will most likely need to prove you go to Uni) :)

Ohhh..well.......ahem....thats good to know!:)

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not there - was just answering your question.

You can do it from home for the basic education discount - but the higher education has to be done from within the university network (so it is on there IP range).

Not entirely true.. you can also ring up :);)

I know what you're saying though; it's only accessible from inside a Uni network (or through a Uni VPN).

I'm currently a student. I'm about to buy a MBP with the student discount. I will cease being a student in July 08. Do you suggest I pay the difference when I stop being a student?

Panzer

Once you graduate you must immediately uninstall Leopard and burn the discs.

That's exactly what I planned to do. Along with the MBP, all the accessories for it and my Educational copy of the Adobe Master suit, despite to total cost of all the above being close to £3000. ;) :p

Still going to be sore if I lose iLife 08 after re-installing Leopard though.

What am I supposed to do if I don't have the Tiger CD? I would like to do a fresh install when I get my MBP but I don't want to lose iLife 08. Seems a bit silly to me...

Panzer
If you buy your MBP after the 26th, it will come with leopard with ilife 08 already. If you buy a mbp before the 26th, you will get Tiger with a set of tiger discs, with the ability to upgrade to leopard for £5.95

Cheers scythe, I'm buying after the 26th to get Leopard.

the point I got confused on was someone said iLife 08 didn't come with Leopard but it came pre-installed on the computer. If I want to re-install Leopard when I get the MBP I don't want to lose iLife.
Do they give you an iLife disc the same way they give you a Leopard disc?

It will be on the OS disc that come with your mac. So if you got leopard with it, it will be on the leopard disc.

So Leopard does come with iLife 08..

I'm confused about this, someone said it didn't, but i'm pretty sure it does?

If you buy a retail copy of the os you don't get iLife, but it comes bundled with the restore disks of all the current Macs. I assume the latest Macs come bundled with iLife 08, so if you installed a retail copy of Leopard (without upgrading) you would just put the restore disk in once Leopard is installed and install iLife again from there.

If the restore disks you have come with an older iLife you will either have to install that one, or upgrade to iLife 08 separately.
