doesn't matter.... it's the price that's the only problem with Mars, and this tells Nvidia........``cant go above 600 quid, that Mars is way too expensive for the average consumer, i dont know why Asus went for a price that high``

The Mars did not need to even exist for NV to know better.
It was all ASUS doing.
 
there seems to be a lot of nvidia share holders posting in this thread, only reason i can see for taking the release of a very nice card by ati as an act of war.:confused:
 
sorry i've been corrected on another thread............the Mars isn't as powerful as i thought :cool:..............only 10 to 15% more than the 295

that makes it even more of a waste of money...... ok, even so; let's wait and see what the GTX 3** is like
 
forgive me if I m wrong but don't ATI have a simlier tech to cuba o.O I think they do

CUDA? So what games benefit from CUDA outside of PhysX related stuff?

3D vision? Oh come on.

Regular drivers? Where's the complaint in that?

Is it us, or yourself you're trying to convince that your NV card was worth the extra monies?
 
hang on, why is everyone putting ahead of ati cos of cuba when the ATI cards have ATI stream which is simplier to cuba :confused:

Coz its the in thing to knock... despite most people showing a marked ignorance of what its used for or capable of... tho fair enough it has little application for gaming at this time.
 
I don't think Nvidia fans can ever bring up the driver thing again. Honestly, one of the MAIN reasons I'm switching back to ATI from around a 6-7 month tester of Nvidia (GTX 260 and GTX 275 which I am currently using) is because of the drivers.

The 4870 I had was loud, noisy and hot! So I switched over. I found Nvidia cards to be less consistent, but quieter etc. So all was good. Then as time moved on, and I upgraded to Vista 64, things worsened.

For the last (who knows how long) Nvidia drivers have been absolutely crap. Pretty much every one of the 19XX.XX drivers have been plagued with issues. And for me it's been no different. I get random driver errors, glitches in games, and even in Photoshop! Which reaalllly bugs me. Im working away on some design work and it says the display driver crapped out. Infuriating. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, ATI are banging out fewer, but much better drivers.

Gone are the days where it was ATI's drivers that sucked. Complete role reversal if you ask me. And I'll be happy to go back to ATI after all this malarkey.

That wasn't really the spirit of how I intended that comment... its just a bit silly the way some people write it off entirely, without appearing to really know just how widespread its useage is.

yeah, I agree, its more for folding etc, but what is annoying me is people are have forgotten that ATI have pretty much the same tech that works in a simlier way, yeah fine Nvidia has physicX but its poorly implemented if you know what I mean ;) right idea through

Consumers olny care about what they can use it for & how relevant it is to there daily use.
Until it shows it capabilities in common areas then it of no importance to them.

No one in this thread is saying that it has no usage.
Its usage to them self is what is important to them & is written off as not being much use to them as its stands for many reasons.

Exactly, who the hell cares about how many lives a GFX card has saved when purchasing one for gaming :D:p
