3DFX SLI is nothing like SLI and crossfire... infact on that front I would hazard ATI are closest to the forerunners on that with the Rage Fury MAXX which I believe used AFR. Although using multi GPUs for rendering predates even 3Dfx by quite a while.

I think there's a point somewhere in here. It always seems Nvidia are the ones leading in terms of innovation, with ATI behind.
