Let Battle Commence

That's an event organised by ocuk to shift some product they are having trouble selling.

The 3d goggles have been around for ages, so it's not something new they've brought out to "hit back".

Wait, was that sarcasm? :p

I think it was sarcasm.

nvidia with their considerable market dominance and financial advantage could take a hit to undercut them below what ATI could afford to drop to, leaving ATI out of pocket and owing money... and basically out for the count - the market is then nVidias for the taking (recoup their loss)...

nVidia clearly aren't as omnipotent as you seem to believe!

Omnipotent?

Sure they can't afford to slash the prices on the 200 series cores... but neither can ATI afford to price them too close to the bone... a cornered rat fights hardest and all that... and nVidia can sustain a loss a lot longer than ATI can... and with no immediate threat from a 3rd player in teh market nvidia aren't significantly exposed by doing so.

That said... someone fairly high up in nVidia is somewhat deluded and given to knee jerk reactions... and will either kill their entire stock off in a fit of temper or try and carry on selling them well over the odds in some deluded belief if they close their eyes hard enough it will all go away... instead of doing the smart thing.

Or simply rename them
