It's hardly rocket science.

I like the UK; it has beautiful scenery, great roads, a fairly stable economy, something approaching democracy, a decent national health service, a pleasant climate...

But I don't like a lot of the natives.

You have a HUGE section of society who are content to do nothing but breed, and take benefits.

There are a few more groups but...I value my account so I shall leave it at that.

Yes just because you do not like a few sections of society does not mean the country has nothing that you can be proud of.

You have already said we have "beautiful scenery, great roads, a fairly stable economy, something approaching democracy, a decent national health service, a pleasant climate". Proud being 'feeling pleasure and satisfaction' would suggest that the fact that you have said we have lots of things great would suggest your proud of this country...hardly rocket science?

Average joe said "There is NOTHING to be proud of about the UK" (bolded the important part).. and that all brits are scum. Sorry if i confused this for him being dissatisfied with the place and therefore asking why he still lives here.

I personally cant see the difference between people hating the place only staying for the ‘free’ education then leaving and the chavs banging kids out to get the free house and benefits. Well only one differnece the chavs children may one day may work pay taxes which could contribute to the economy

Enough said from me… leaving this thread now.

back guys :)

in regards to the flag burning you say its ok to burn a union jack.

you really think that a lot of people in this country dont find tht offensive?

If you want to stay in this country you shouldn't be burning the flag. you should deported asap as obviously you no longer want to be a british citizen

He's 19, so most likely at university - which isn't free.

It is still subsidised though is it not?
It is also free up until university is it not?
He could be doing A levels couldn't he?
He could be at college doing a free course couldn't he?

Genuine questions - I don't know the answers because I left education quite some time ago, but afaik if he is not working he could be doing a free college course?
What are fees like in Scotland for Uni, are they in line with England or much different?

It depends why your burning the flag, I could stand outside Downing street and burn the flag as a protest against the government, it doesn't mean I hate the country or want to leave, should I be kicked out?

People on this forum are increasingly black and white in their views and I find the anger with which they post incredibly worrying.

Thank god speakers corner still exists.

How do you propose to enforce the law?
More police = higher taxes -> No thanks.
Build more prisons = higher taxes -> No thanks.

Stop giving immigrants benefits -> More money to put into other areas of the economy.

I'm not entirely impressed with the prospect of a law forcing me to accept drunken fighting, reading The Sun, talking by removing the end of every word and jumping on media bandwagons.

But what if the law was to state that the only cars that could be driven were either a Mondeo or E39 530i sport? ;) :D

OP, I also agree with you. Australia have a very tough stance on this and a recent newspaper article I read from an Aussie paper was based on this fact. If you dont like it, sodding well leave!

I'd like to take this further and stop giving benefits to everyone. Why should my taxes be used for someone to sit at home and watch daytime tv?

Scotland has no university tuition fees AFAIK...

Close, Scotland has no tuition fees in the sense that the Student Awards Agency for Scotland(SAAS) pays them for those who were living in Scotland prior to their application(it is slightly more technical than this but that is the gist of it as I understand it). However foreign students(and this includes the English) do have to pay tuition fees and anyone who repeats a year of the same course may have to pay tuition fees for that year. This is just for undergraduate level, beyond that funding might or might not be available from SAAS or other bodies. :)

What about crippled people who can't work. Would they be left to die?
In Morrocco old and infirm people are put on the streets to beg for a crust.
We could do that...

I take it you don't actually mean "stop all benefits" and are just throwing out lazy down the pub style comments?

Or maybe you do

Allow me to clarify - I was talking about those who are able to work and don't because benefits are so easy to come by these days.

So what you wanted to say is that the Government should try and stamp out benefit fraud.

You have a funny way of putting things
