Lets have a 90's console war....

people who still have consoles will never have it as good as we did in the 90s. Partly due to the high expectations on consoles to keep up with PC gaming.

My mate won a Panasonic 3DO on Gamesworld on Sky One.

The console was terrible! :p

Think I'll agree my mate got one. Cost a fortune. Road rash was fun on it. It was truthfully told a highly priced bit of hardware which on paper sounded very good. But in practice everything else just walked all over it.

Who remembers the Amiga cd32. I had one, That was terrible as well truth told. Bodyblows and quick dirty Amiga games plonked on CD.

PS1 all day long!
but saying that i never had any nintendo console until the Gamecube came out and could pay for it myself
but i did have my PS1 and Amiga 600

i didnt have my PS1 chipped but remember "a friend" :) had a cartridge that plugged into rear of console and then you had a spring which fitted on the inside of the lid.
you put an original ps1 game in, waited until the PS logo came on and disc stopped spinning briefly and you then swapped disc for a copy!
i used to love playing one particular game, think it was called smash court tennis

Yes, the Amiga CD32. I played one in a shop one time! :p

Regarding the 3DO, the best selling game on the console was Gex.

Looks fairly meh:

I think need for speed, Road Rash, Street fighter, Star Fighter, etc all sold much more than that.

Apparently internet search says gex was the systems biggest seller at 1 million but then apparently only 2 million consoles were sold. It was widely considered a failure and was criticised for lack of decent games at launch with a very high price tag.

I like a fool got a cd32, my love for the Amiga machines blinded me, and I soon realised my purchase was a mistake... The cd32 gamepad was horrendously bad and the system was soon discontinued and I don't think anyone was too upset or surprised.. Shocking what commodore did to the Amiga brand.

Yea, still had a large amount of games and played the hell out of more than any other system at that time.

At least somebody misses it ;)

I think usually there is always some good games on each platform. Wait the virtual boy might not have... :)

I remember being super excited when the guy at school won one and was heading round to play.

I totally forgot about the Neo Geo in all of this, I don't think anybody mentioned that yet!

"Let's start a ... console war"...? While it's fine to go back in time and enjoy some nostalgia, being this childish (which is what console wars are) is perhaps taking it a bit too far. As long as there's no being mean and you play fair, it's all in good fun though.

In all honesty, I tried out the PS1 and the Gameboy Colour back then (can't remember many others), neither were any interesting to little-kid me. I didn't realise video games were a thing till the GameCube. So from my perspective, they all failed as they couldn't garner the interest of a simple child.

Ban.

The Gamecube was the start of the end when myself and Nintendo were concerned.

N64 was faaaaaaaaaar better than the Gamecube. Plus the N64 had fairly decent third party support, no way near the PS levels but that was huge.

Ive still got a boxed snes starwing edition, a ps1 and not quite 90's but ive still got my old xbox with xmbc on it and a switch to turn the chip off for going online with.
