**LETS SEE YOUR PILEDRIVER OVERCLOCKS - LET ME START WITH 5GHz+!!**

Show me one finish a long encode at 5Ghz.
Only sudicide runs at 5Ghz on any CPU you should know that.

If you want a PC that actually finishes what it started then 4.6Ghz is about MAX.
IVY's are peculiar in that it doesn't matter what cooling you use.
They cant disipate heat quick enough out of the core.

Water, top end air doesn't really matter as the voltage required for stable running at 5Ghz just roasts the core.

edit: this high profile encode i am running is too close to call only .1 FPS in it.
Still a way to go yet 2hrs + but the PD is hanging on in there. .1 ahead

There's plenty of people at OC.net running prime on 5ghz 8350s for long periods, and that's more intensive and hotter than handbrake. These are not suicide runs. With the voltages I'm running 24/7 on my 8320, which is a poor clocker by all accounts, I'm convinced that I could run an 8350 @5ghz 24/7. This is in a low coolant flow, poor air flow, high ambient loop in a HTPC case as well so a proper custom loop in a proper PC case shouldn't have any problems with that.

i'm gonna try and re-seat my cpu and make sure the waterblock is on properly this weekend.

Any way to tell how tight you should do a waterblock up?

I think its the VRM's on my extreme 3 though.

Also might re-look at my watercooling see if there is a better way to do it.

cool humbug games i would include are bf3 , skyrim , wow , arma 2 ,

COD
Hitman Abso
Farcry 3
Crysis 2

I don't have all those games, but i will see what i can do.

So far i have done Skyrim, i can't get vSync to turn off tho, and i have edited SkyrimPrefs.ini. no joy, still 60 FPS locked.

It does still make a big difference to what CPU speed your running.
I will add it all in a slide once i'm done.

Bugger! The TWO deal has ended on the 8350, I'm sure it was there last night. :( As is becoming the norm, I'll have to look elsewhere.

You should easy do it. My 5Ghz is stable at 1.475volts playing games and benching thats good for me. No crashes yet or lock ups.:p

You got VERY lucky though. ;) I might of bitten off more than I can chew with this one! :o

you should be able to edit the ini in skyrim and do this

"To disable VSync in Skyrim, add iPresentInterval=0 to the bottom of the [Display] section of the Skyrim.ini file in the \Users\[Username]\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim directory."

just checked mine and thats locked i will edit now and report back :p yep that works

You got that from the same site is did, i recognize it :D

In anycase its slightly wrong, you don't need to 'add' it, its already there, read what is already in the [Display] string and you will see it, you should only need to change =1 to =0
Its not working for me, i did also try adding the string just to see if it would work like that.

I will play again with it later.

Any particular scene ? it's a big world.
Going into buildings can affect frame rates.

Changed the ini file but the game carried on with sync on.
skyrimprefs

Disabled vsync in the NV control panel in the end.
Games is really strange with sync off.
Flying elephants, really walking in the air.

Yeah, tried forcing vSynk off in CCC, still not working.

FRAPS run, opening sequence, traveling in cart, from fade in to cart stop at wall.
All settings maxed
