Show me one finish a long encode at 5Ghz.
Only sudicide runs at 5Ghz on any CPU you should know that.
If you want a PC that actually finishes what it started then 4.6Ghz is about MAX.
IVY's are peculiar in that it doesn't matter what cooling you use.
They cant disipate heat quick enough out of the core.
Water, top end air doesn't really matter as the voltage required for stable running at 5Ghz just roasts the core.
edit: this high profile encode i am running is too close to call only .1 FPS in it.
Still a way to go yet 2hrs + but the PD is hanging on in there. .1 ahead
There's plenty of people at OC.net running prime on 5ghz 8350s for long periods, and that's more intensive and hotter than handbrake. These are not suicide runs. With the voltages I'm running 24/7 on my 8320, which is a poor clocker by all accounts, I'm convinced that I could run an 8350 @5ghz 24/7. This is in a low coolant flow, poor air flow, high ambient loop in a HTPC case as well so a proper custom loop in a proper PC case shouldn't have any problems with that.
