**LETS SEE YOUR PILEDRIVER OVERCLOCKS - LET ME START WITH 5GHz+!!**

Yeah I meant the Cores, the socket maxed at about 75°.

Ambient air temp of 23/24° and airflow is my issue, since replacing the stock P180 fans with 3 stage power management for the Noiseblockers, I can't extract the air fast enough :(

The new fans do have power management so I may invest in a small fan controller along with a all in one water cooler heatsink to replace the CM212.

Did you see any throttling with a 75C socket temp?

Not really tried anything serious yet but my FX-8 8320 is happily running @4.2GHz on stock volts under the stock cooler.

I'm going to get a better, and quieter, cooler before I really push it.

I did some stress testing yesterday with different RAM, NB and HT speeds, while keeping voltages constant. What I found was that higher NB and HT speeds added little to the loaded temps of the CPU socket and cores, but going up from 1600MHz to 2133MHz on the RAM increased loaded temps by ~5C which is quite a lot on a custom loop especially as lower RAM speed means CPU/NB volts can be reduced resulting in even lower temps.

With this in mind, and the comments I've seen on OC.net about tighter timings being a preferred tweak for RAM on this platform, I'm going to start tweaking in that direction as I think my 30nm RAM should be able to do CL7 at 1600MHz. This should give me more temp headroom to push higher vcore for higher core clocks as there is way more performance there than in faster RAM speeds.

I tried using the Samsung greens as well.
You can easily get them to clock up high but it needs high NB volts

I am finding that running RAM speeds above 1600 makes getting stability very difficult.
Fine for benches but getting Prime stability is hard.

Just using some Kingston HyperX 1600's now, the samsungs went back in the X79.

Got me thinking now, I will try this out tonight, dropping ram down to 1600Mhz or below.

im still undecided between the 8320/50 for xmas, but leaning towards the 8320. The 8350 seems to be better binned, but for the sake of 2-300mhz, i'm just not sure I can justify the price hike.

if you have a decent mobo and cooling you can get an 8320 to the same speed.

mine will run at 4.6 / 4.7 but my mobo's VRM's overheat.
