LFD2 banned in Australia

Quite surprised at some of the stuff they're doing down there recently. Australia always struck me as a very common sense country when it came to laws and government.

They do, but they've deemed this game too extreme ven for adults.

OP - I assume you could just import it in a brown envelope?

Too violent for adults...waw austrialian government are pritty artarded. no offense but seriously... is WOW banned over there as well?

I think all MMORPGS were supposed to be getting banned due to online games not being able to be given a rating. Dunno if it ever happened.

It surprises me that Australia would bring in changes like this, thought they'd be one of the last to do so actually.

I think one of the rules is that every Governor has to approve the rating or whatever and if one doesn't then they have to ban.
One of the Governors is very anti gaming. At least thats what I read ages ago about the fallout 3 drug use changes.

In true computer game tradition they could release a toned down version with less gore etc and then once it has its certificate, there will be a way to unlock it.

Oh dear Australia. Well that takes out the game servers in that country too, meaning any Australians who import it will probably have high ping/lag. Unlucky. :D

I agree however it is not suitable for 15 year olds, but come on, they should really have an 18 rating!

@mame: Kind of like the German version of Left 4 Dead 1.

I think everyone is looking a vital observation here. L4D is mega violent. Iam supprised it hasn't been banned over here. There are not very many game that allow mass killings, whether it be zombies or not. :-|

Huh? There are many games with mass killings, the CoD series has mass killing and also has ties to the real world. In L4D the killing is of fictional zombies (well, infected) so there is nothing morally wrong with it however you look at it.

Yeah..I'm as puzzled as you by the comment. Howww many games are first person shooters? And most of them involve killing your 'fellow humans' rather than monsters/undead.

In the civ games you can nuke cities of millions :/

in fact a large portion of games rely on mass slaughter.

It's not like the watchmen in the Civ games though. If you've not read the watchmen, then owell. Still doesn't depict mass murder but implies it suppose. Yes I'm pedantic. :p

Command and conquer games come to mind though...
