LG 34GK950F vs Alienware AW3420DW

I negotiated via live chat. I was hunting for discount codes. I wanted a 15% off on top of Dell's discounts and TCB was, at the time, offering 14%, but then it stopped. TCB/Quidco is never guaranteed, especially if you're using codes, so I just chanced it with Dell direct.

Mentioned I had a non-functioning work code for 10% and that ordering direct would mean I'd lose out on TCB/Quidco, so they'd have to lower their price more (they initially offered £1100inc vat and 5yr warranty).

I went back and we settled on £950. I was happy with this as I didn't have to run the gauntlet with cashback.

Sorry if above is against forum rules due to Dell being a competitor. Please delete if necessary.
Thanks for replay. I will try.

My monitor was unpacked and installed on the desk with an Xbox One hooked up. Initial impressions are good, but I have noticed quite a lot of 'glow' in the corners. I have a Spyder calibration tool, so we'll see what it looks like once I've calibrated it.

Unfortunately, I think I may have a customer return. The box was scuffed and dirty and the security tape didn't look original. In fact, the box was stripped of its graphics at a couple of points, which is to me a sure sign of it having been resealed at some point. The parts didn't have that obvious brand new, sealed appearance to them. The stand had some scuffs where it joins together and the monitor had quite visible wipe marks on it! Not what you'd expect from a factory sealed product.

I contacted the sales person I was dealing with and they assured me they only provide new products and their refurbished goods are sold by and from an unconected department. She invited me to contact customer services if I wish to proceed with a complaint.

All that aside, it's one fine looking monitor.

I've noticed, well the kids have noticed, one stuck sub-pixel in the middle of the screen. It's green. I think Dell's warranty covers a replacement for 1 stuck sub-pixel, doesn't it?

I'm mulling over a new graphics card.

I use a AW3420DW, I know that freesync works as others have reported success but what range would I be limited to if I choose team green or team red?

I was under the impression that these, and the 3418DW are only G-Sync and won’t work with AMD cards for VRR?

There are snippets of info on the web stating that the AW3420DW model (but not the 18) do work with freesync.

Did they replace it for 1 stuck pixel? Was thinking of getting one as they are on a good offer at the moment.

I think it depends on the type of 'dead' pixel. The terminology is quite specific and I can't remember it off the top of my head. It depends on 'how' it's stuck.

I've not sent mine back. In fact, I completely forgot about it. I don't use the PC much, as it's in the kid's room and they haven't mentioned it since I posted about it. :)

I've got the extended warranty, so pretty confident I can send it back if it gets worse.

Yeah, I interpreted the warranty that it would be changed if one pixel if it was bright. Was just interested to see if they would change it if it was black or stuck on a colour. Have taken the plunge and ordered one.

After your comment I thought I should check mine for dead pixels and sure enough I found one :(

Think I'm gonna just leave it though as I really can't notice unless the screen is one solid colour.

Dell Alienware owners, do you know if they have feature like LG OnScreen Control where you can snap windows to the side and open/custom split screen option to open multiple web browser.

Yes and no. Dell has it (Dell Display Manager) but afaik they are not officially supported by Alienware monitors. You can use Microsoft Powertools though.

My opinion on faulty pixels is don't look. Unless you notice it within normal use it's really not an issue.
