LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

Got the monitor, nothing short of amazing, but got bleeding in all four corners :( Any advice? Thinking about trying to fix it myself as going through a return process might just result in being back where i started or worse.

Unless it is terrible, get a bias light and ignore the bleed, IPS screens have relatively poor black levels, IPS glow and backlight bleed, this is one of the negatives of IPS, best solution is to not use them in a dark room and to use a bias light behind the monitor. Also try using a lower backlight setting, I find around 100cdm2 is good.

Mine arrived this evening (thanks again @NikTheSHNIK, very grateful for the fast turnaround and Saturday delivery)

Very happy with it - worlds apart from the 15+year old 24" and 21" pair it's replacing. For anyone interested, GTX 1070 seems plenty usable, at least for the non-AAA games I tend to play anyway.

There's a bit of bleed in the lower left corner for me, but I don't particularly care - it's not often I stare at a black screen. For general desktop use, dev work, my choice of gaming, I don't notice.

Must admit I haven't managed to get G-sync detected yet. Latest NVIDIA drivers (419.67) LG firmware updated, tried HDMI and DP, tried enabling Freesync on both Basic and Extended modes, but NVIDIA control panel still doesn't seem to detect G-sync, and running the pendulum demo won't let me select the G-sync option which I guess confirms it. I'll keep fiddling, but if anyone has pointers I'm all ears.

I had a few problems getting it to detect but you need to set it up with the dp cable, then I had to do a complete shut down from the wall socket. then with a fresh boot and switching the monitor input to DP made it work. There's also quite a few dp ports on the back of my gpu so maybe try switching between them.

So far so good. Happy bunny here, minimal if any bleed, first experience of UW and loving it so far. It is a lot of dough for a monitor especially so when i don't game a lot but touch wood i haven't found any issues so far.

Been waiting for the F model but I ain't paying an extra £50 for it when it's been priced at £1099 for so long. It's been 10yrs since I bought the last monitor I can wait a little longer.

Noob question :) How do i do that?

Just lower the backlight setting on the menu, probably labelled "brightness", the most accurate way would be to measure it, but you can look at the TFTcentral site and see what setting would be approx 100 nits, might seem a bit dull at first, but I think it is better with IPS, especially if you are not in a bright room, because of the limited contrast on IPS, at a lower brightness all of the colours will look better, as well as any problems like glow or bleed will be less obvious. Best option on IPS is a low backlight setting and a bias light.

Thanks for that. Tried the same thing, swapped ports and cold booted everything and we're in business :)

Thanks for that, it has helped. :) Think I may have to return it though, the left corner just has far too much bleed.

Well just saying from my experience of IPS, most of them will be similar probably, depending how bad yours is.

I do fear if I were to try getting a replacement I'd only get something worse as I don't think it's too bad compared to what others post when they are disappointed with their own screen bleeding.

I think I'll want to open it up at some point, see if it can be fixed. Have no idea how to even get the thing open though.

Technically these LG's are well overpriced anyway if you consider other 1440p ultrawide panels are going for between £700 to £900.

But if you have decided you are going to drop over £1k+ on one (like us) £50 isn't going to make much difference really.

But does not matter at the moment as OCUK are out of stock once again on both F and G models.
So demand is well and truly out stripping supply.

The good ole early product adopters tax... will we ever learn.
(Nope because we are enthusiast's that want our new toys now
). :D:(:D

You probably can't fix it, you are always going to have some bleed, IPS glow, even if you didn't have those, you still have a mediocre black level. Overall I would ignore it, as 90% of the time you are not looking at black. If you want perfect blacks then I would not get IPS. They are good in other areas, just not contrast ratio or blacks!

I wouldn't recommend voiding your warranty by cracking it open.
The margin for error/causing damage is high.

With that said... ChrisPyzut has opened his up.
He was going to take another look this weekend.

If I understood him correctly he said the light bleed would appear to be related to the amount of pressure applied (or lack of) at the edge of the screen.

Hopefully he reports back in with some pretty pictures.

In the grand scheme of things I know you're right, £50 is nothing when we are already looking at a monitor over £1000, still when I know is been £50 less it irks me somewhat.

Both F & G models are back in stock they have over 10+ of each, both the same price at £1149.95.
