LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

2560x1440 isn't 2K.

You knew exactly what I was talking about, so are you just trolling?

I didn't specify DCI 2K, therefore it would be reasonable to apply generally accepted application of the term, which includes horizontal resolutions of approximately 2K and above (but not 4K).

I assume you also call foul when people say 3840 × 2160 is 4K?

It doesn't really matter. 2560x1440 is literally not 2K. Calling UHD "4K" is dumb, but that isn't the same thing. It would be like calling UHD "3K."

No, I'm not trolling. I just don't get why people are so desperate to use #K to vaguely reference resolutions when they could just use the actual name for the resolution. The actual name being UWQHD. QHD being 2560x1440, and the UW being the ultra wide format of QHD.

I wrote 2K because I can't remember all the UWQHD terms, etc, and could not be bothered to type 2560x1440 on my phone.

My Alienware delayed delivery again. But still LG could release some pics details to build hype, what is marketing up to?!

Hoping you get a 34GK950G early for review! I feel this is the last UW for consideration right now, with others being the Alienware and the recently updated Agon (can't ignore that cheaper price). The UW5 panel sounds sweet, primarily for the 144Hz refresh rate, but I sounds like we won't see that in a G-Sync monitor in 2018.

That depend, Alienware and 34GK950G is hard limited to 120Hz because of DP 1.2 limitation on G-sync module (I believe freesync version of 34GK950G have DP 1.4 and is limited to 144Hz by panel).
If monitor manufacturer implement coming G-sync HDR module with DP 1.4 it should allow up to 200Hz on WQHD or 120Hz on 4k, ofcourse given panel itself can handle that.

Gsync propriety hardware is holding everything back. I understand AMD is not competing on the GPU front, otherwise I would be waiting for the F version. I hope the uw5 panel will come soon, its 2018 people.

Will the new models better handle the full range of resolutions (e.g. 2560x1440)?

Pretty sure that it is irrelevant because you would not want to use monitor scaling anyway, you should use Nvidia control panel and set to "Use GPU" and "no scaling".
